My old 30gb iPod just died so I was after a new one to replace it. Amazon is the only place I've found so far that isn't charging the full £159 for it.

Is this the latest Gen

Of this specific model: yes

However, the latest fresh model is the Touch
#5
The Touch has the snazzy touch screen and uses flash memory, so it's possibly more durable. The downside is you don't get as much space (8gb or 16gb) and they're a lot more expensive. The Classic uses hard drives but don't have touch screens, but they're cheaper and have much bigger capacities. (80gb or 160gb.)

Although on my old 30gb the hard drive is fine, it's the logic board that's fried.

Once this is back in stock at Dixons it is exactly the same price and you get quidco :)
#7
Nice spot. I've got an Egg Card, so I can get 5% instant cashback on that by buying from Dixons. But can I wait? :)

Does this charge up when connected with a USB cable?

I managed to get one of these from John Lewis for £135.23 (online) :whistling:

Cost of Ipod = £159.00
less £20 voucher ~ see this thread for more details/voucher code (offer expires 28/02/08)
less £4.77 from Quidco

Have checked John Lewis and they are in stock at time of posting :)

My daughter is very pleased with it

Voted cold as I bought mine for £139 from John Lewis using the £20 off £100 voucher and if I wasn't pleased with it I could return it at a JL store for a full money back refund. It also came with a one year JL warranty.

What did you not like about it?
I've one in my amazon basket now, think i'll pick this over an 8gb Nano - anyone disagree?
#14

#15
Its gone back up to £149, but still a pretty good deal i think?
#16

yeah, right !!!!!!!

look at the facts!

I have 6000+ songs in itunes and that comes to under 25gb. So 18 days worth of music if played continuously. Why would you need a 160gb. Have got an ipod touch and quite frankly its the dogs dangly bits. The only thing you have to do is rotate your music every now and again which is no big deal.

Would depend on what you want your ipod to do. nano all the way if its just gonna be used down the gym strapped to your arm but the ipod classic is a great workhorse.

My ipod 30gb is full up with MP3s and Video files, so i cansee the advantage of upgrading. In fact, iwill be very soon!

I don't think you see the point, I don't have a problem with the ipod, were just pointing out you can buy it cheaper at John Lewis for £139 (Ipod Classic 80GB silver or black) using the £20 off £100 voucher already posted on the site (like I did).
So £149 is not a good price.

get around £6 quidco with that as well.

I bought one of these on Christmas Day for £129

Dixons had them online for £143.33 but had another 10% off if you ordered between 3 and 6pm on Christmas Day.

As I bought my other 30gb Classic last July for £160 this is a bargain for an 80gb one.

What's the point of buying a video capable player if you are only going to use it for music? You cannot play it for 18 days continuously as the battery would not last. So you might as well buy a much cheaper music only player of about 4gb, and rotate what music you have on it while it charges.
#26
I bought this one at Christmas for £160 locally but it seems to have 'crashed'.. Display says 'power failure'. Any ideas before I return it to the shop only to be told something blindingly obvious?

It appears that only RAC members can request the 10% off code.
