I bought this model in Asda a few months ago, branded as imode, for £15. it was reduced to clear and last one in shop, no too bad a sound
#5
Anyone know if an iphone will work with this?
#6
I bought this from Aldi last December and took it back for a refund as the sound is very tinny

Both iphone and iphone 3G work fine with it music wise. It will also charge the original iphone but for some reason it wonr charge the 3G version.

Glad the last post was made. For the iPhone 3G, Apple disabled charging via the firewire power pins of the iPod dock connector - and a lot of speaker systems and car kits use these pins (even when not using firewire) to charge the unit. Other kits that use the USB power pins are fine with it, but you have to test it out to see which sort your device uses.

Gutted as it means my existing speakers don't work with my new phone. There are some rumoured adaptors on blogs and things but nothing concrete yet, or alternatively Apple may release a software update to allow firewire charging if its physically possible - but its thought that the 3G may not have the internals to handle the voltages required.

What did you buy instead? Any recommendations? I've got an Logic3 Intempo which is pretty good. but I need another speaker dock for other locations.

I went for a I-Connex mini cube-system which was in the sale at Sainsbury's which has a docking slot for ipod and a USB slot - it has separate speakers so may not suit everybody - the sound quality and functionality is great and at £19.99 was a snip. There is another I-Connex cube with integarted speakers but I don't know about the sound quality of that one.
But see review at

Do you get phone interference with this unit or do you have to turn the phone off first (Airplane mode)?

this is instore at my ASDA brand is imode but exactly the same price is £24.97

Bought one! Brilliant, sound is great, radio and also charges iPhone without problems (not 3G).

I got one too. 1st unit was duff. It was taking 30 secs to respond to remote control presses. Took it bak for instant replacement. New one is faultless. Granted the sound quality isn't phenonmenal, but as a system for the nursery for those late night feeds it's perfect.

For those asking about iphone 3g compatibility. I've recently been doing a lot of research into it myself. The only two I could find which were completely compatible were Logitech Purefi Anywhere and the Bose sounddocks (which cost at least twice as much!) I went for the logitech, which is pretty good for travel speakers and loud enough to fill a room at a comfortable volume, but does lack a tight base and is a little tinny at the very top end. But to expect more from travel speakers may be a bit harsh. It's not a stereo replacement.

I spoke to soon. The 2nd one has developed the same fault. Takes AGES to respond to remote control presses. Poop.

This is what you get when you buy audio appliances from a german sausage shop :whistling:
