No. It's from a different retailer - some may prefer direct from Apple for things like free etching. However, main difference is that's for the "old" 5th generation 16GB which has no rear camera - Apple have updated the 16GB one to include a rear camera (and choice of colours) as per 32 and 64GB models, but I believe they are not calling a 6th gen, though!

Old 16GB rear (from Argos site):

Apple hasn’t made any notable updates to the iPod touch line of devices in nearly two years, but it has just quietly brought the smallest 16GB model up to snuff. Without any kind of announcement, Apple updated the 16GB touch with a camera, color options, and other features of its larger cousins. It’s now a proper 5th generation iPod touch, but is there anything new on the inside this new 5th gen media player?

The folks at iFixit picked up a new 16GB iPod touch and promptly broke into it hoping to find it full of Apple’s secrets. However, it’s almost identical to the 32GB and 64GB versions. On the back of the device, Apple now includes the wrist strap peg and a 5MP camera, both of which were available on the larger variants previously. The board, camera connections, and opening procedure are the same in this device as all the other 5th gen iPods.

basically they have stopped building the old case and reduced the storage of a 32gb to make a new 16gb

Edit: that doesn't seem to work either - must be work's firewall or something. I can go to the Argos site and search iPod touch so guess anyone else who wants to view it will have to too!

are they brining out a new version?

I don't know - I wonder if they've quietly updated this version as the new base model and the perhaps the 6th generation will only be available in 32GB+? Or perhaps they'll overlap generations with the 6th being more expensive obviously?

Just wished they'd have updated it with GPS.

good way to experience ios if you don't want to commit to an iPhone as your 'daily driver'. I have the 32 gig and use it mainly for media via mobile Wi-Fi. does everything other than make calls really.

All that money and you can't even make a call ;)

The black version is £144.99 on Amazon?

Bare in mind that this was released when the iPhone 5 was released so its pretty old now. Nearly 2 years, so if you buying it expect support to be dropped in the very near future.

Although Apple have stated it will get iOS 8.

But US prices never include sales tax, so add that on and it's not that far off.

Can't be 16gb. The 16gb model only comes in silver and doesn't have rear camera.

Can someone please tell me what the differences are between this model and the one that is £20 cheaper? I know the cheaper one comes in one colour where this version comes in various colours. What other differences are there between them?

The cheaper one (at Argos) is the "old" 16GB 5th generation - they have now added a rear camera (with led flash), loop attachment(but loop sold separately on model) and more colours so it matches the larger capacities, which have always had these features.

Thank you Rickardo. I've ordered 2 of this model for myself and my partner, from John Lewis. They are the same price there, but with 2 year's warranty; instead of the 1 year supplied by Argos/Apple.
