#3
Wish they had an option of a matt finish at the back.

What's the difference from a 2nd gen?
#5
Faster processor; more memory for the money.
#6
And if you're interested in jailbreaking, the newer ones only have a tethered solutions as yet.

about 40% faster, better graphics chip, 256MB Ram (128MB in 2nd Gen) voice control, has a deactivated FM receiver and wireless N chip which could be activated later by software upgrade?, Bluetooth and 6hrs less battery life (2g = 36hrs, 3g = 30hrs)
#9
Rumors have it that the next gen iPod has a camera in it.. and could be out during xmas..

well, i'll had heat and rep to counterbalance this trolling rubbish.

this isn't a thread discussing the merits of an ipod vs. alternate makes, it's about whether it's a hot deal.

This will not happen anytime soon. Apple have always refreshed their iPods yearly, every September, like clockwork.

gotta say i think ipod brand are just becoming rip off merchants you buy an ipod about two months down the line your ipod is dated i've got a 2nd gen touch but next mp3 player i buy will not be apple

good deal but remember apple will no doubt release one at xmas with an xmas bobble attached that will make yours dated and deemed no good

Please stop talking nonsense. How are they ripping you off? You bought one at a price that was advertised. They always release new iPods every year in September. See Macrumors.com's buying guide if you don't believe me.

It doesn't make your iPod useless - the only difference between 2nd and 3rd gen is the speed (which isn't that big of a deal), which in turn makes the battery life lower.

Its not just the actual hardware afew things have made up my mind itunes complete rubbish- updates every time i plug my ipod

no EASY means of taking information from an ipod to another machine

its only my opinion you can buy ipods all you like but i won't be

i just don't understand why for instance a camera for example wasn't included in the first ipod touch hmmmm so they can make people who have shelled out on original ipod touches to buy new ones, why was a loud speaker not included on first gen etc etc etc these extra are no longer cutting edge so can easily been included

in my opinion its all just marketing and i'm sure i'm not the only person who believes this, i'm not wanting to get in a debate on someones thread

and i said before its a good deal if you don't already own a touch

He won't reply because he knows his comment was pointless.

Very good deal indeed.

I'm getting one for my birthday as my 5th gen is getting long in the tooth now and plays up every now and then.

Yeah, just how Sony tried to rip us off by selling a fat PS3 for years, I don't see why they couldnt have sold the slim one from day 1. And its the same way everyone got ripped off buying expensive 30 inch LCD TVs when now you can get a 40inch for less. Man I hate the way these companies take advantage of us. :whistling:

Great price but I managed to get it cheaper from Additions direct.
Normal price of £229.00 then use the 15% discount code got it down to £194.65 and 8% quidco on top of that - surely a bargain

Its a great price and a brilliant piece of hardware so I voted hot - as the deal is hot.

However I have to agree with some other posters, I cant stand Apple products. They are propriatary, non compatible in many cases and virtually impossible to port files to other hardware. I cant stand itunes or their drive to make everyone buy their gear, their software their songs off itunes etc.

As much I like and admire the hardware I wouldnt own one if you put a gun to my head. MAybe one day someone will work out how to make their gear work properly stand alone as media players should with full all format file support etc. Then I would buy one.

Actually in the cases of the ps3 slim its worse as they have removed significant functionality. Its a downgraded product in the name of an upgrade.

Thing is people are buying them in them by the milllion so if their is a market can you blame them ?

SORCERERS speaks the truth. You can get this cheaper at Additions direct using the voucher code XX922 to get 15% off and Quidco give you a further 8% off.

Just bought myself a 64GB 3G iPod Touch for £237.77 (£299.00 retail, -15% voucher, -8% Quidco, +£3.95 delivery).

A 32GB 3G iPod Touch would be £183.33 (£229.00 retail, -15% voucher, -8% Quidco, +£3.95 delivery).

This is for the 32gb. Ordered mine on saturday morning for the ball and chains birthday and got it this morning. The 15% off code is XX922. And the link to the ipod is
http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/rf/add/p.do/new-ipod-touch-32gb?Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&SNtt=ipod+touch&Nao=12&groupId=643062912&Nu=this_product&SNtk=generic_search&Np=1&SN=104+85&Ntt=643062912&D=643062912&Ntk=group_search&Dx=mode%2bmatchall&thisprod=643062912&N=104+85&Nty=1&Mis_item_id=15&Mis_item_loc_id=1&product=643062912&pageSize=12

Hope it helps and don't forget to go through quidco for 8% too. :whistling:
