I think from the specs its gonna be a 1st gen touch:

2nd gen = upto 36 Hrs audio playback or upto 6 Hrs Video

According to the Apple site
#4
It mentions built in speaker though, and volume control. I just ordered a 8Gb tocuh for my daughter from the Apple site for 158 (engraved and delivered).
#5
product description and overview dont match.

Description seems more like 1st gen but overview more like 2nd gen!

This is 2nd gen.

That hasn't been confirmed.

As others have already said the description contradicts iself by listing specifications from boththe 1st and 2nd gen versions.
#16
really can't see these being second generation at this price

Someone on the thread for the 32gb version phoned up and they confirmed it's definitely 2nd gen.
I've ordered the 32gb version for £214 inc cashbackkings and saved a copy of the web page just in case they send me a 1st gen.
At best, I get a 32gb 2nd gen for £214. At worst, I get full refund inc return postage.

The 32gb is the best buy with £60 off the RRP.

£60 off the 32gb £229.99
£14.01 off the 16gb £204.99
£20 off the 8gb £149.99

Dont forget LINK10 on a £199 spend or over for an extra £10 off. Voted HOT as not even education discount on the iPod's

I ordered the 32gb for £214.49 inc £5.50 cashbackkings & £10 voucher but now out of stock and they won't sell anymore at that price according to this thread.

I am reluctant to purchase without at least 2 years warranty, all my I pods have lasted just over a year and then nothing you can do about it. These 2nd gen ones are hard to open to change the battery too. Does the Link provide additional cover for extra cost? Can't see it anywhere.

Son's birthday sorted, its in Dec to, i didn't plan that to well:whistling: now just need to get a lcd tv cheap:santa: CHEERS

Confirmed with The Link that the 16gb one is 2nd generation.

Nothing you can do about it? I don't think so. Just go back to the retailer and quote the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended). It works wonders.

Mark.

But surely a one year warranty is such. If you take it back 13 months later then you don't have a leg to stand on?
#31
Thanks Vimes220. Ordered and heat added!

SOG provides something wooly about an item should last "as long as it is reasonable to expect it to" with a time limit of 5 (Scotland) or 6 years (elsewhere).

How this is applied in practice I have no idea!
#33
Does it include an AC power adaptor as well to charge it ?

Wrong. It is illegal for a retailer to rely on a warranty that reduces your statutory rights. As stated, there is no fixed time limit for determining the useful life of a product, and it is certainly not an arbitrary 12 months.
All that a warranty is, is that the retailer undertakes to repair/replace/refund/whatever a faulty product without question during the lifetime of the warranty as long as terms of the warranty have not been breached. This is in addition to your statutory rights (aka Sale of Goods Act for most people).

Have a look at the apple spec page here.

It looks like its just a USB charging cable supplied.
Whats included...
iPod touch
Earphones
USB 2.0 cable
Dock adapter
Polishing cloth
Quick Start guide
#36
Could the iPod Apple Care be applied to these? It extends the warranty to 2 years for £39. See http://www.apple.com/uk/support/products/applecareipod.html
