Umm, any company that uses that kind of description to sell what I would call a poor product, should not be trusted. Cold.

Iqon Quintal 2021VX Intel Celeron 2.6GHz, 512MB Ram, 160GB, DL DVDRW, Vista Home Basic…

What are you s******ing at? Iqon isn’t the **** people say it is. They used to make a computer just as good as anybody. Or most companies. Or some companies. It’s not their fault they went bust. Blame it on Gordon Brown and the credit crunch… Anyway, they’re not the worst. And the Iqon Quintal 2021VX Desktop Computer is as good a computer as you’ll find on the market today. Probably.

Still giggling? Well, the Intel Celeron 2.6GHz Processor ought to shut you up. You’re probably running some ******, old 1GHz P3, right? Well, this here’s a souped-up Celeron hot rod. That’s right? We haven’t seen performance this powerful since Bruce Forsyth last performed tap. It can all be yours, assuming you can find apps that are optimized for a Celeron core. There aren’t many. But you’ll thank us in 2013, if you’re Iqon Quintal 2021VX is still running by then.

What’s that? Still not convinced that Iqon can bring the computing pain? What about the jaw-dropping built in video card? Huh? Huh? What about the 512MB’s of RAM, and that massive 160GB hard drive?

Yeah, thought so. Drop the negativity and the skepticism and face the fact that the Iqon Quintal 2021VX exceeds Windows Vista requirements. Now, I’m sure you’ll want to take back some of the nasty things you’ve said about? What’s that? Oh, you hate Vista, too, huh? There’s just no pleasing some people.

Condition: Grade A -Refurbished (as new)

Warranty: 90 Days

Special features: None that we know of… if you can think of any post them here

why is it a poor product , i know not alot of ram. But for most people 160 gb harddrive is adequate and if like my mum n daddd you got a decent tft this is cheap way to upgrade it you havent got £300/400 for full new package.

My reasons . . .

Iqon - Celeron - 90 Day Warranty - Prob no OS media - And look at the company, what professional company uses a description like that?

is there only going to be one of them for sale ?

No there will be more than one, no idea how many though!

Its an ok machine for £100. However, Vista on a machine 512MB? Good luck with that :) Need more memory.

By the way, www.boffers.co.uk are bigpockets incase anyone didnt know. Go to http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/ and you can see the graphical icon on the right hand side. Its their daily specials website.

are u serious? They may be bigpockets, but really, would you call your company boffer?

And would you write a professional description like the one from Boffer?

looks a bit like the ibood idea. google ibood - its basically a website with a different product each day (at what they think is an 'amazing' price, but often isnt with p+p). Ooo further down in the free cd bit it has the same points listed when you bought a bag of cr*p, which were actually really good and when one of mine didnt turn up they refunded immediately, plus they say they would sell the cds on their sister website if they had more...
PC looks alright, ram probs wont take vista as my laptop has 2gb and 1 is taken up just for running it!

Think the style of writing is like that on purpose - they are trying to be fun and funky i think, kinda like a gamestation to the worlds game....
#16
Worryingly old specs for a refurbished computer ....probably been ran into the ground for 3 years!

I agree, I see it more and more at work, I read it as its supposed to be a bit funky and "street" certainly not offensive but I guess it works for some and not others (I certainly dont find it particularly professional when I get this sort of sales garbage from companies such as T-Mobile touting for a sales contract!!)

Not the greatest of specs but the "blurb" is written like that on purpose. Upgrade the ram and you have a very decent internet and general purpose PC for very little money.

I personally wouldn't run vista on it (nor any PC given a decent price choice :) ) however up the ram and it would be OK.

At that price it's a bargain.

Key thing is for those complaining; can you find anything close to that spec for anything close to that money. If not then educate people so they can make an informed choice and post those amazing deals so we can all vote HOT!

I keep seeing this Boffer name come up. Are they connected with the US-based woot.com at all?

If they're unconnected, their websites have strikingly similar designs...

Well, it seems it's almost a trend here to hate bigpockets/boffer.
Personally i've never had a problem with them. Their customer support is second to none, and they even have their own forum section at another 'bargain site' so people have a vast multitude of routes take if they ever come into problems. If anyones had a complaint about anything 'refurbished' then they are more than happy to offer an exchange or refund.

I ordered a flatscreen monitor from them a year or so ago. It went missing in transit for a few days and turned up with a huge scratch down the box and as a result, right down the lcd screen. BP's sent another courier out to collect it the next day, handed me over another monitor and then refunded the shipping costs.

As for this offer, all the Iqon pc's were bought as liquidation stock from another company. I highly doubt they are used, more likely just sat in a warehouse for months on end.
Plus there's no chance at all you could build that machine with a Vista license (not that i'd ever want that garbage OS on my system!).

Obviously, it's no gaming system, but for surfing the web and general office/school work, it's more than sufficient :)

exactly my thought well slightly different nothing turned up for me as the delivery guy pretended to send it and faked the signature they believed me and sent out a new one and all they asked for was my signature so that they could put a claim with the courier BUT that was only after the replacement was sent :-D
#28
I had 4 of these delivered before I got one which was ok, including one to the back garden in the pouring rain which they didn't know they sent. Wouldn't touch another one.
Cold.

i have used BigPockets for 5 years + for CDs computers, laptops and more. Never ever had a problem with them. When things are late. They have refunded me the postage with no quibble. Boffer seems like a really good idea. I like these daily offers. Ok the blurb could be better but hey who gives. It is blatently aimed at a younger care-free audience (students) and guess what? I think it works!
#30
I reckon that boffer is a trusted site and have been happy to receive my free gifts whilst testing their online ordering capabilities. I'm now waiting for a deal to come up I actually want to buy. I'm sure there will be something soon.

Imagine if all the freebies and testing was just a giant ploy to get the interest high just to repeat the 'cheap 32" HDTV’ scam.......
#31
seems like a good deal
but dale winton just turns it into a supermarket sweep lol

You have to pay the postage to return things to BigPockets - just beware. They were also sellin, make your own DVD recorders a while back and then they had the same ones already premade on there site, not saying they had been made up by some teenager in a warehouse somewhere. You may as well have NO warrranty as what could you find out in 90 days.

they paid for me to return stuff normally or more often then not just go chuck it in the bin its to much bother (at which point i take effort in trying to fix it... unsuccessfully) and when they originally sold the make your own DVB Recorded it did give a major hint that they where going to make the selves saying something like we where going to build them but as we have so many....

I've made a pretty penny down-grading vista to xp on all these 'fantastic' 300 quid laptops sold by pcworld etc.. If you buy one of these, please be aware, it will probably take 7 mins+ from switch on, til you can actually do anything. Oh, and play an mp3 or cd music and attempt to do anything else, (word, surf the web) and go stick the kettle on. It really annoys me that microsoft has knowingly put such low specs for vista, when the performance on the lowest spec is unacceptable. Still, Vista is still the great thing, I installed on my pc and encoded a dvd to divx, then i used xp on exactly the same machine using same program to encode the same dvd, a full 17 mins quicker on xp. But doesn't Vista look so much better? Not particularly, especially when it offers little functionality over xp and hogs 3 times the resources, just for a few extra graphics, (which can be downloaded and modded into xp).

Sorry to rant, but for an extra 50 quid, you can build a comp that has upgradeability and also will knock the spots off this machine. I can't understand how anyone could vote other than cold for this, even with a ram upgrade, the processor will still chugg with vista, do people really want to wait for the likes of word and email to load, since it's been almost instant for the last 5 years?

I had a printer with a missing cart a couple of months back...contacted them...they sent my money back and told me to keep the printer...nothing wrong with their customer service.

I don't understand all the hostility towards this, you'll be hard pushed to find better for that price.
No, it's not amazing, but it's £100 and for maybe an extra £50 (1gb of RAM and an 8600gt) you'll be able to run Crysis. Can't say fairer than that.
#39
A few months ago I purchased one of their previous Iqon computer offers. It was supposed to be 'as new'. What turned up was a VERY secondhand machine. I returned it for replacement and got a better machine, but still not 'as new'. Given all the aggro involved I would sooner pay £50 extra and get something that really is brand new. I don't think there is any legal definition of 'refurbished' or 'reconditioned'. IME it means a secondhand machine that's been given a wipe over with a damp cloth.

lol run crysis with a celeron? I guess it depends on what you think is acceptable as 'running' crysis, 640x480? Come on, even at that res it'd still struggle, the processor is ****, if you add vista into the equation, the result is something that is a pig to use, as you will always be waiting.. still if you enjoy waiting... buy several, it's no skin off my nose.

also, zero chance of upgrade, kinda kills the deal full stop tbh.
