These already look pretty old hat like a kind of giant white ipod 1st gen.

I'll be waiting til they are thinner, full colour, more stylish and a quarter of the price with full web browsing, built in camera and audio and 3G for remote downloading of colour literature and web content.

Wouldn't that be a netbook/laptop rather than an ebook reader then? It does include audio (mp3/wmv). Can't really see the relevance of a built in camera when reading an ebook. All my "real" books pages are black and white which works fine for me.

I can't comment on the price and features for this particular model as I do not know enough about them but I know that i would be happy to receive one for Christmas.

Thanks OP.

apart from the price being a quarter, all you wants would point to an ebook reader app for the iphone. not that would help the sale of ebooks no end! it'd be so easy to add them to the itunes store.

also another good place would be on the PSP. it's just got a comic book reader & store (well soon!) & it works pretty well.

i like the idea of ebook readers but it'd be better with full colour, even if it is just to show you the front cover of the book, it'd make you feel like you were reading the real thing :)

Voted hot, it's a good price and is even competitively priced compared to the Sony e-reader and the Amazon Kindle.

Why the cold votes?

Surely the purpose of these e-readers is that they use e-ink, which means it is like reading from paper- a wholedifferent ball game from reading a pdf on your ipod...

Would advise you pay the extra £30 or so and buy elsewhere. Was given a book reader purchased from WH Smith.co.uk for xmas last year.... when it stopped working in September (still under warranty). I contacted WH Smith to be told not our problem go away... Trading standards currently involved in this. So if you want one don't buy from WH Smith!!!

have you made that up about e-ink?! LOL

i can say i've never seen an ebook reader in use before so cant compare. but on the ipod it wont be a pdf file, there are already a few different types of ebook readers on there that act as though you are reading a book although only a bit of the page at a time. the psp comic book reader works pretty well but think thats down to going from pic to pic rather than reading a full page
