For simplicity (see book, buy book, read book) Kindles are probably the best solution for people who just want to get the end product. However, for people who are willing to put a bit more work into sourcing books (i.e. don't want to be tied to Amazon) then a non-Kindle reader could be a better bet.

I have a Kindle and I'm not tied to Amazon. Just use Calibre

For those who managed to grab this deal, I've uploaded the latest firmware (v 1.86) which can be downloaded from the link below.

(plug the ebook reader into your pc and copy the ebook.hex file across to the device. Once it's copied across just unplug it and it will install automatically)
