Saw this in Poundstretcher, Halifax (Crossley Retail Park, Pellon Lane) and was reduced from £19.99, to £14.99, now just £7.99.

They had loads in stock. They are right at the back of the store on the same side as the checkouts. I don't know if this is store-wide but worth a look.

I think next cheapest is the JML one on Amazon for £14.65

and I've had one of these for over a year now. I use this and also have a 'Powerbar 2'. Chin ups, pull ups and press ups, along with squats and deadlifts after a year have done me really well.
I think every man should have one of these.

'One of' but not the only. Not strictly true about the different muscles though but the main muscle groups are different - lats and biceps rather than pectorals and triceps. Any decent programme should include both.

I bought one from Amazon a few months agao I must admit it really does work the muscles, my kids also enjoy hanging off it

Richard claimed pull ups were one of the best upper body exercises and you replying saying that push ups use different muscles is surely irrelevant as push ups are also one of the best upper body exercises, both focus on the upper body just different parts, i.e chest vs back

after being a qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor for over 10 years I know what can be good equipment and what can be bad, I will reserve judgement as never used this product yet, but have a client that does and loves it.

Sound advice given above- you can shift your hand position when doin push ups to isolate chest and back muscles at different moments, you just need to be show how to isolate the muscles with different hand spacing accordingly.


Heat added as sure worth a hot try when at this price, if it doesn't work then pass it on to a friend.

Only thing I can think of pointing out is some people may be week in the associated muscles to begin with and may not be able to lift their own body weight :(

This could be due to muscle weakness, body imabalance, or prior injury so please be careful when trying the exercises, and if you struggle to begin with you may need to use some adaptive exercises first.

which would you say is the better of the two? I've been looking at the powerbar as it allows for a wider grip and is higher up, but the iron gym is much cheaper.

I don't agree, how would you get strong enough to lift your own body without using weights? Free weights are best always machines are too limited and don't work supporting muscles. Just use light free weights and build up.

I agree good compound excerices like pull ups are key, as are deadlifts, press and squats - core work is vital to good muscle building & strength.

Not a pro but I have been training a long time and in pretty good shape.

Yes diamond pushups are worthwhile. Without putting it to simply any form of exericses is going to beneficial thats logic.
Diamond pushups are not for beginners though. Unless you can do 20 push ups you shouldn't be trying to vary them up into things like diamonds, this puts more strain on particular muscles which is what you need for them to repair and grow.

Just as a very rough thing, start doing normal push ups, make sure your elbows point backwards when you do it not to the sides, once you can do 20 start varying it. You can do wide grip, close grip (diamond) pushups where you shift your weight across at the bottom. Set your own goals and try to always match or beat them thats, and always do them until you can complete no more, that is how you will progress.
