Good price but do you know if they work with the current gen ipod nanos? because i tried it with an older charger like this which works on the old nanos but mine did not recognise it so didnt say it was charging.

I don't understand. It says USB charger but also says mains charger.

I want a mains charger for my iPod Classic so I don't have to keep using the USB cable to charge it with a PC.

Will this be for me?

It’s a mains charger that accepts the iPod USB cable, so yes it will do what you’re after provided it supports the Classic which it seems to.

Can you charge an iPod with a generic USB mains charger? Should this charger also work with other devices that charge via USB?

Says MP3 Universal so should do - good buy !!

Apple one from Play is £17.99 http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3320441/Apple-iPod-Charger-USB-Power-Adapter/Product.html

I've got a Belkin one of these I got for a PDA I used to have.

Got rid of the PDA but kept this - very very useful - amazing how many of my gadgets charge via a USB cable.

I've got something similar which worked fine on my 3rd/4th/5th Gen iPods but won't charge my new iPod Classic. As I understand it, the current generation of iPod and Nano are power hungry and require output at 1A whereas most of these type of chargers are 650mAH or less.

I got one from Maplin which is 5V 1A for a £9.99.

I always have trouble charging a Blackberry using these mains USB chargers, although they use a normal USB cable they seem to have a different standard than the rest of the world.
Anyone tried this one on a BBerry?

This is the problem, it's impossible to discern whether this outputs at 1A or not. Chances are, it doesn't.
