How to stop being scared of clowns...

1. Write down a list of why you are afraid of clowns. Do you think the make-up looks menacing? Have you seen a movie in which there was a killer clown? Any fear always has reasons behind it. Think about what it is you don't like about clowns.
Hmmm the one in IT is very scary.

2. Understand that clowns are human beings, dressed in make-up, silly clothes and strange wigs. Being a clown is a job - the people in the clown suits are actors. Try and dress up as a clown yourself: you can buy clown make-up and suits from fancy dress shops. This will make you realise how easy it is for anyone to look like a clown. Laugh at the way you look - clowns are meant to be funny, not scary!
I don't find them funny. There is nothing about throwing a bucket of silver glitter over me pretending that it is water that I find even faintly amusing.

3. Look at pictures of other people dressed as clowns, then visit a show where there are clowns (a children's show would be ideal). Try and enjoy the show and laugh at the clowns instead of feeling afraid of them.
No thank you.

4. Remember, it's OK not to LIKE clowns: some people just think they're ridiculous and immature. But there is no need to FEAR clowns: after all, they're only actors, who are normal people just like you.
I do not believe that the desire to be a clown is normal in any way.

* Forget what you see in those movies about killer clowns. These movies are meant to scare you. Think about it: if there was a movie about killer telephones, it would be just as scary, yet just as ridiculous.
KILLER TELEPHONES! OMG! WHERE?!!!

* If you still have coulrophobia after this article you may need professional help.
Probably true.

If you keep thinking that clowns will harm you then you will never be able to go to a circus/carnival/theme-park with your friends. Until you realize that your fear is unfounded, your quality of life will not be as high as it could be.

My life is over then. It is almost a weekly occurence that I have to turn down a trip to the circus.

I found this very scary until the end which was really stupid but that is the way with Mr King
#7
My skin crawled when seeing the pic of the blasted clown on here!!lol

I had nightmares after watching this... for years!!!

I love Tim Curry, many of his roles are comic or the likeable but bumbling fool. As Pennywise he is really good and very scary.

Anyone from Southend in Essex will be familiar with Salvo. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3273/2971903904_9f5aa9e004.jpg?v=0 I used to see him hanging around at Rayleigh station and then often in Southend on Sea. He brought out the heebie Geebies in me and my children.

I absolutely love this film. Typical stephen king awesomeness. Worth every penny.

I love this film too, IT was one of my favourite films as a kid!

The only film that's ever really scared me......scary ass clown

This gave me nightmares too! I was too scared to go the toilet in the night, still am! I've only seen it once and it was about 15 years ago. What happened at the end again??? Have I lost the plot here........did he turn into a big silly spider at the end or was I on drugs as a child!
