I've only waited six months for this to come back around so I could stock up the cupboard again! Coconut milk, essential for Thai cooking, lovely in an Indian curry as well, great for certain baking recipes.

I know this lead to arguments before, but 47p is a great price for coconut milk, and it's definitely worth stocking up whilst you can, as I know this sold out in about three days at my local ALDI.

ETA: turns out you can get this for 48p in the Jamaican section of Tesco's world foods section (Dunn's River brand), but as many Tescos don't have those, this is still a good deal, I think :-)

:-) nicster08, I have to confess, hunting down the picture of the ALDI flour/sugar is what made me find this, but I am way excited!

I love cooking. I cook a huge amount of Thai and Indian curries which require coconut milk and am also partial to a real pina colada. I have used "inferior" coconut milk previously and have found it lacking.

Can someone tell me the percentage of coconut extract in this tin, many thanks. Good price though and voting hot whatever the extract amount.

girlzmum, I don't have any tins of this left, but I will tell you that it was very nice, and much better actually than the Jamaican stuff I have also bought at Tesco, which can go up to 65p per tin or more.

We use Maggi dried coconut milk powder, which tastes as good in cooking and takes up a lot less space than the tins.

So some of you guys dont use coconut milk for months & months - whilst you wait to save about 20p a can??

Thats a bit cheap!

Just go to Asian stores where its always this price
#12
Agreed Gollywood LMAO

It's true that every penny counts, but if you're only using coconut milk for a curry etc then I think 20p on the coconut milk is the least of your worries.
#14
Try use this stuff instead...

27p per block, lasts for ages and you can use however littler or much you want. Depending on how much you use you can have thick creamy coconut milk or light..much more flexible than a can in my opinion.

I just keep one of those blocks in my fridge too, they last forever!

is this a sign of how low hukd has sunk ?

Low in what respect?

And in response to above, I meant that I'd waited six months to stock up the cupboard fully again on this, not that I hadn't had any in months. But on such a small food item, 2 quid savings on ten tins isn't bad. I have also tried the coconut blocks, but they don't work as well, IMO, and certainly not for baking recipes which use coconut milk.

I will give the Maggi's a try, I've seen in Tesco when I can get into one of the bigger ones. Oh, and not everyone has an Asian shop near him/her, unfortunately. Wish I did tho'...

They Sell it in Morrisons in the Asian isle about 47p
#22
Not in the Asian aisle of my Morrison's, sadly.

Something very tragic, yet amusing about this thread.

Hmm, if you say so. BTW, went into an Asian shop in Liverpool, whilst away there for a few days and coconut milk 97p per tin, so not exactly always a great solution, as suggested above.
