Lovely beer, buy it all the time and this is a great price.

I once got told by a barmaid in a pub that it was "illegal to sell me a pint of Leffe" Duh!

Have also had the barmaid say to me "Are you sure you want a pint" Of course!

    Technically she's right.

Some local police authorities put a restriction on the amount of some strong alcoholic drinks that can be served at any one time.

Technically she's not right. The police may advise bars not to serve stronger drinks in excessive quantities, but's that's all it is - advice. It's not law but more often than not the licencee will abide to keep police on side. Anyway Leffe blonde and brown are only about 6.5%abv so not totally excessive in strength. I love the red one too, pity they don't sell that over here.

    My favourite beer! :-)

I am a recent convert to Leffe and I have to say that it's now my favourite beer of all time (I'm 41 by the way, so I've tried a few - abroad too). Funny, I can drink most beers and lagers but I absolutely cannot stand that rubbery tasting Hoegaarden crap, and I've given it a second chance too. If Budwieser is the king of beers, then Leffe must be getting on for the God of beers!

Technically she may be right :stocking: The police can ask for the licence to be reviewed and have conditions added to the licence but these will need to be agreed by the Local authority.

I find Leffe too strong--but will be all over the Hoe...gaarden.
great post , btw did you know they filmed a 'gentlemens interest' film outside the Hoegaarden brewery ?
I am sure a Google Image search(unfiltered) will oblige.

I saw packs of 4 x 330ml bottles of Leffe for £2.65 today on a clearance offer in an Exeter store today. PM me if you are local and are interested.

Yeah, I know it would not be against the law/illegal but I can see why they would not want to serve it. Funny thing tho was when she said its illegal to serve you a pint I then replied "Can I have two halfs then" and the reply.... "No problem Sir"...lol
