It's listed under Computer Accessories and my guess is it can be used on DVD Player too.
#3
Computer, yep. Wouldnt be so sure using it out of the box with a DVD player. Isn't the 5.1 output on them phono connection? This will have 3.5mm mini stereo plugs to fit a sound card, meaning you'll probs need to grab some phono to phono leads. Unless Comet/ITWORKS have been kind enough to include them aswell (doubtfull!).

HOT from me!
#4
Managed to book one in good price, Heat Added!!
[helper]#5
Great price, hot! Also note that if you want to use with TV set up, this does not seem to come with a remote control.

no idea at the mo, will pick mine up first thing 2moz ...need it for my small work space on a pc wouldn't expect the wattage to add up to much for this price though

fire from me either way

Seems like a good deal but does anyone have knowledge of the quality of this speaker set?

Also, does anyone know where the headphone socket is located? I've looked at the pics and I can't see it on the front of any of the components. It may seem like a small point but it is a deal-breaker for me: I hate having to move speakers so that I can get to sockets mounted on the back or some other inconvenient location!

Yes, that is what this post is all about. You can't use the Voucher at Instore.. you need to reserve online and collect it at store.. if this makes sense.

Just got home from comet with mine. On the box it says 100W PMPO & 45Hz-20KHz. Not yet got them out of the box, so will get them sorted & setup & post back with what they are like.

Well I've setup the sub & center speaker just to test it all out on my ps3 playing battlefield 1943 & for the price im pleased so far, so a good buy I think  The manual says the following:-

Model Code: MMSP 5102
Output power (total): 100W PMPO (10W RMS)

Speaker Driver Unit:-
Main Unit: 3" 50W PMPO (5W RMS)
Center: 2.25" 10W PMPO (1W RMS)
Front: 2.25" 10W PMPOx2 (1W RMSx2)
Rear: 2.25" 10W PMPOx2 (1W RMSx2)

Frequency Response Range:
30Hz-20KHz

There is more, but I thought I would write the main audio details for people who were wondering :)

Hi. Where is the headphone socket located, please?

Here's a pic of the connections on the back of the unit. Hope it helps.

I was thinking of some external speakers for my ps3 as i think im losing a lot of the experience in Dead Space not having surround sound would you recommend them ?
#29
Thanks for the pic djp2k8  If that pic shows all the connections then, as I suspected (and despite what it says on Currys specs) there isn't a headphone socket at all - let alone one in a convenient location. Doh!
#30
Went to comet to pick up my reservation. They had a set out. My God they were low quality. Like something out of a Christmas cracker. Left my reservation slip in the bin and walked out. Not worth even a tenner.

Hi, I got mine working with the PS3 this evening. No headphone socket at all.

Ok quality for £13.50, work well and a big step up from the TV speakers. Just don't expect something like the theatre sound you'd get from an Onkyo amp, big sub and nice speakers because you're not spending hundreds of pounds... :whistling:

How many WATTS is this?

As any audiophile will tell you Wattage isn't nearly as important as it's been hyped up to be in order to sell cr speakers to jetty boys.

SPD is far more important. A 5wat speaker with 90SPD is louder than a 500watt speaker with 80SPD. Wattage is just the 'raw' power reuqired, not how efficiently the speaker uses it to generate noise.

So next time you see some car idiot saying "I've got a 3,000watt sub" just chuckle to yourself as it's probably inefficent filth thats beatable by a quility set of cones on 30.

So ends my wattage rant.

Although it dosn't really apply to something like a lil cheap 5.1 setup like this....hot.....wont work with the 360 though with those inputs?

so how are you chucking your signal in to these speakers from the PS3? I'm hoping to HDMI > DVI to me Samsung monitor, and then wanting to...

oh hang on so you're using your red and white leads to go into the speakers then aye?
#37
Ok how on earth can you get 5. 1 from your ps3 on to this? What do you connect it to? I thought you need optical in? Please help. Thanks
#38
10W output from a 5.1 system... no wonder its cheap

If you want to use this for headphones, disconnect speakers & plug in your headphones into the green socket.
