And IT247 have now gone :-(

I had a few things from them and never had any problems.
Got mine this morning and running them as a dual monitor setup on an Ubuntu/Win7 dual boot machine. Work brilliantly although there is a slight hint of ghosting on full 1080p via VGA - the cables supplied aren't the best in the world.

Will have to have a play with the USB side of things when I get some time.

If this is only VGA personally I'd spend the extra few quid and grab this Benq for the added DVI.

Its a tricky one - its VGA and USB Digital (no DVI)

The advantage of USB digital (DisplayLink) is that if you don't have a powerful graphics card and don't need the monitor for stuff like video and animation then you can get away with running it on USB. You can also daisychain monitors together to extend your desktop - its fascinating stuff.

As I mainly use mine for PCB design / CAD / Programming etc these are a good option for me.

Have a look at the demo video - interesting stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnycEPymZF8

I did consider the Benq but the closest one (at the time) was non LED. I saw the other one with the LED backlighting but the 3 year warranty on the Lenovo swung it for me - if I get 3 years of HD for £30 a year then I'm happy lol

1g ram on win 7?must be joking!

My Acer 5100 with 1gb (and 128mb of that being shared by graphics) works fine and this is with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Where do people get this kind of rubbish from. I have a HP 5100 with 512mb of ram also running Windows 7 ultimate on and this works fine.
Now need an alternative to this. Any ideas or better off waiting for easter sales? I will be getting one for uni and on this kind of budget
Just got email saying order rejected. Missed it!

From what I've heard of the Timeline X series although they have better processors it's at the expense of battery life.

I was about to order a 4810tzg for £370; this has a bigger hard-drive and screen for less money, but is a little bigger to cart about... decisions, decisions?

Dose anything else offer anything like the battery life without paying too much more?
Still have not seen a i3 with this size with a decent battery life at a good price
topazz
Good price for a bit of a niche product. The acer timeline series generally get good reviews for build quality and features. Seen it in the flesh and it's a handsome looking machine. The slightly strange thing about this model is that the spec has everything you might need to be a great ultra portable e.g. a low voltage ulv dual core cpu that'll play 720p HD with ease, long battery life etc. The problem is, is that it is a bulky 15.6" form factor and relatively heavy at 2.4kg. The SU4100 cpu is fine for every day type applications but not for gamers and heavy computing applications such as HD video editing. Now that core i3 cpu machines have come down in price it is now possible to have both a decent battery life and a computer that is capable of serious computing for not much more than is being asked for this model.

As long as your computing requirements are fairly basic and are aware of its limitations, then it could be a good buy for some.

Giving 'em away.......................NOT!!!!!!!

What a load of nonsense, don't even bother spending 2 mins looking as the prices are rediculous for a closing sale.
Was thinking of using them this week and I am glad I didn't now.
I have bought the odd deal from IT247 before. Agreed, a shame to see them go. I can't spot anything spectacular in their sale though.
"PowerColor Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2.1 Graphics Adapter with £100 off at £85.20... Many others so have a look around..."

£100 off the launch price perhaps (even that is questionable)..

Nice thing about these, solved two problems for me...

1) Low power for decent performance. My PSU is a bit stretched already so was quite pleased on that score

2) They can run three monitors at once. Not sure about this one, but mine has HDMI, displayport, and a DVI socket (which with an adaptor can do VGA also).
nsuffield
I have a dual monitor set up, both with DVI connections. This and most of the modern cards seem to have DVI, VGA and HDMI. Would I buy some kind of DVI splitter to create 2 DVI sockets, or use the one DVI and some kind of HDMI to DVI converter on the other?

(Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I haven't bought a new card for many many years)

This looks like the single slot which only has one dvi port whereas you can get double slot ones with 2 (I have the 5770 XXX edition) if you dont want the effort and untidyness of splitters etc :) Beware the double width problem though! Make sure you have enough space around your pci slot and check the length of these cards as mines in quite long....

I think it's pretty obvious what his comment was getting at (lower power consumption/better efficiency).

I think you should compare this to other monitors with 900 pixel height, and not to other monitors with a 20" diagonal. After all, when was the last time you were trying to fit something diagonally across your screen? :-)
This is a typical resolution for a 20", fine for pretty much anything, your not going to notice the difference to a 22" at all. Have some heat as BenQ make some lovely screens.
Benq makes amazingly good displays. Heat from me even the x900 seems like a bit less. For general usage for most of us it is all right.
Alright then can you show me another 20" LED DVI monitor for this price??

4 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz
--- very slow memory that was used at least 4 years ago (so does the mother board I assume)

BTW, my 3-year old Thinkpad T500 has a FSB 1066 MHz and the DDR3 memory used is working at the same frequency

Is Acer trying to get rid of some old memory/mother board/cpu stock?

Why do you people never understand. you got same spec couple of year ago for stupid money, this is only £360 . a decend t500 version was costing nearly a grand. 3 years a ago PS3's were a lot dearer too, same principal.

3D ready laptop without bluray-dvd drive :( pointless

Without Bluray, decent graphics or a decent processor! The graphics are discrete but severely unpowered and a T4400 CPU while good for general use is still too slow for even low-end gaming.

The technology's clever but without even being pessimistic, the screen is a total waste on something barely above low-end.
Cracking price for the spec. Just slightly too big for me, though.

How is cashback paid by HP ?

Payment is made by BACS transfer to your bank account. I found this out when I submitted my claim online.

Btw, how does one go about expiring this deal? Or can someone/mod expire this as the price has gone up to £527.46 (+ delivery), although the £170 cashback offer is still available, however it's not as tempting at the £350+ mark.
How is cashback paid by HP ?
My previous printers (HP 2600n) came with full toners, I think there are still some others that still do. Anyway, received this one, well impressed for the money, although quite heavy. Also as its quite a mature print engine, apparently the toners and compatibles are quite reasonable.
All printer manufacturers provide starter kits with their printers. This is so there is enough ink to set up and test the printer. In reality there is more ink than this but it does make sense to buy an additional set - you're going to need them at some point anyway so why not save money on another delivery charge.

They do have a bundle with printer and toner cartridges - CM2320fxi + Toner Bundle

Great deal - wont be beaten on price.
just to show how much of a coincidence that is, I ordered this printer last year!!

Thanks Jacksonliam, great info! I'm gonna hold out for that 64GB, even if its in a year or so.

[quote=jacksonliam]
Ok, now I am really jealous about the SSD if it can fit with the regular HDD too. Which one did you get, and how much was it? Can you fit win7 on 30GBs ok? Was it easy enough to open up, and will it invalidate the warranty (ie will they be able to tell?)

About the build quality - the base is fine (I carry it around one handed too), and I think it'll last ok - its just the lid that bothers me - its flimsy and doesn't protect the screen. Time will tell...

Yes I can take the SSD out in a Jiffy, had to take most of the screws out to put it in though, there were lots and lots of screws!
However I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the warranty.

30GB isn't a lot and certain programs (Visual studio, for example) need way too much space on the C drive.
If im honest, It was a massive pain getting everything into 30GB, and it left me putting word and other things on the D drive, which give them little freezes every nown again (on battery only) while they wait for the HDD to spin up after its span down.

However it does make windows 7 very speedy :D

I would happily pay £100 (maybe a bit more) for a 64GB drive that would fit! Transcend apparently have one but I can't find it for sale anywhere!

Its the 30GB SSDNOW I've got:
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/storage/2010/08/26/kingston-ssdnow-v-series-review-30gb/1

The card that fits is called a Half-slim Sata (Or Half Sata).
