Thanks Bellamy. Rep added to your post!

I don't know much about the device, so I'm afraid google is probably going to be your best friend :)
No h264/x264, mkv, or ts support. Thats pretty much my whole hd film collection not supported :p

Good price and seems pretty well spec'd. But i would advice that you pay a little more and get a Popcorn hour - the larger the user base the more the support.
tbh the firmware updates for this seem very frequent, plus it has the major pointer that it can rip a dvd to the drive < to me thats an excellent feature and one ive been waiting for, just weather to get this or wait for the updated version. Also for anyone interest this also works over upnp
and popcorn hour still not going down in price

It will only keep going up unless the value of Sterling stops falling.
there is a mini review here:

Just reading it now, but know that newer software has come since the review....
Popcorn Hour A110 is the only way forward if you want a device like this - firmware upgrades are great plus the community is always providing apps.
Very neat player with it's integrated DVD drive, and it's facility for automatically ripping DVDs and CDs. Sadly the Sigma EM8621 chipset in this will never support H.264, so if playing HD files is important, avoid this one.
they have a iTab 38 HD model which supports h.264  no price though
I saw one price for the iTab 38HD and it was about £221 which makes it more than the Popcorn Hour.... Although suppose it does have the dvd rom drive... However that should have been a bluray drive...
Hi - Ive been watching this item for a while now. The main feature for me is the ability to rip straight from CD or DVD disc. I have a large collection of CDs that need to be centralised and a number of kids DVDs that could be uploaded to save them getting scratched. Scan do a deal of the day and this device has popped up on numerous ocassions over the past 4 months, each time the price gets lower. The current price of £125 is now within my price range so I purchased it.......fortunately i already had a spare 350gb sata drive. I aint cranked it all up yet (at wor at the moment) but I did seat the drive which was as snug as a bug. Need to power it up to see noise levels but I am optimistic as always. It does come with a wireless adapter and an extention cable with pod so reception can be improved by moving the cable & pod 1m, usually out of the way of other devices that may interfere (tv,cable box etc). No HDMI cable in the box so off to shops at lunch to get one......I'll report back on ease of use....luckily I dont have any HD discs eventhough i do have a 1080 telly...
just been onto scan and the offer is still available, its now Fri 30th at 4pm!

Yes - it was on another offer yesterday - they must have had a few people asking for it i guess :)
The KiSS 1600 does not get great reviews:

The iTab seems to be a good media tank for SD DVD rips to be output upscaled.

I had an email through from ebuyer with a Linksys Kiss media player. (Wireless or hard wired) priced at £109.99 - when I checked, I found that 2 other places (Dabs was one of them) were selling it for £99.

That does have HD support including MKV. Seems also to be better as it has a DVD player inbuilt. Hard drives can be added via USB.

If you're still monitoring this, can you give us your thoughts pls? Are you happy with the product?

My main/only use will be to play .ISO files from my DVD collection. I'm not really interested in .mkv and/or HD format support etc. Have you tried this? Is the quality as good as in the original DVD?
