It's a DVI to HDMI cable

Nice, great for HD projector set ups!

In fact, just orderred. Now I need a new projector! DVI is HDMI without the sound (of course dif socket too) which is fine if you just want it to send video.

DVI to HDMI or HDMI to DVI can be used either way around. HDMI sockets are female as are DVI sockets, as this cable has male connectors at both ends it can work either way.

These cables are used to pass a video signal from a source to a display. Note that they don't carry audio.

I have two of these.. one from ps3 to monitor and the other from pc to tv, as i use optical out on both pc & ps3 to an amp. so yeah they work both ways no trouble, i paid about £1.50 for a 2m cable, but i suppose this is a good price for the length

I believe you have to change the audio output setting from automatic on the PS3 otherwise it tries to send the audio out via the HDMI. (Does it always send audio out of the optical?) Just a tip for people, confused me when I first tried and didn't get any sound out of the RCA jacks.

DVI-D can and does support Audio - My Media centre is connected via DVI-D to HDMI into the Plasma and no other cables needed - it depends what your plugging the cable into whether the device supports audio through the DVI-D socket - not if the cable.
NVidia and ATI are two Graphics card producers that have audio cable cards. My Media Centre on-board graphics supports it.

now £69.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:w00t:

Quite a mis-price by the sounds of it then. Do Play honour them normally?
#15
I don't think this is a mis-price, I think this is an item that sells in low volume and they probably wanted to shift excess stock. RRP is a bit of a joke, as it is for many cables.

DVI to HDMI is approaching end-of-life as more projectors and PCs come with HDMI.
