The only joke in this book is its RRP label.

So should you, it's 'should have', not 'should of'.

Well worth £1, paid close to £10 for it myself. Was pleased with that price too.

I think that possibly the grammar police on here should HAVE paid more attention in English class too.

it was a typo.... please get over it

I think Jack Dee is great and he was the first comedian I saw live, sometime in the early 90's and he's still great now doing standup. Lead Balloon though is a embarrassingly bad rip off of the vastly superior Curb Your Enthusiasm. Jack Dee should hang his head in shame for such a blatant and **** poor copy.

I like the bloke but was never a massive fan...even had to think twice about buying this for a quid, but once i'd read the dust cover notes I knew it would be worth my hard earned money.A bit like his alarm clock :)

Just because it's in the same genre and a similar type of comedy doesn't mean it is a copy. He will have been influenced by CYE when writing much in the same way Larry David was influenced by numerous programmes he is a fan of too. Plenty different enough in Lead Balloon, different characters, storyline and plot. I am a fan of both, yes CYE is superior but Lead Balloon is also very good.

Voted hot, also bought this for £1 in Poundland.

I can't think of another show where a comic plays a dark version of himself in what is a exact same situation......its a copy in my book.

a copy of an old idea then? - I don't mind someone copying an idea as that happens all the time - its when it's a rank bad copy I mind.

Payed £4 for a paperback copy of this book and loved it! Brilliant read. Even the introduction & index had me laughing. Well worth a read if you're a fan of comedy & Jack Dee! Hot!
#23
A clearout of his book at Poundland is exactly the sort of thing that would happen to his character in a Lead Balloon storyline!
#24
Great read, really funny. Absolute steal at £1

I've never seen CYE, but English sitcoms are always vastly superior to US ones because English audiences are more intelligent and discenring.

That's a load of nonsense.

Watch Curb, a superb comedy.

So basically what you are saying there is only room for one comedy where a man plays a dark version of himself? What about what influenced Larry David and the rise of satirical comedy? I think it's good that ideas are developed even where they are strongly influenced by other shows otherwise we wouldn't have Lead Balloon or Curb your Enthusiasm.

No the point was it was a BAD copy. Copying is fine but not when its rank bad. Lead Balloon v Curb is a little like comparing Cognac v Netto cheap Brandy.
