Star Time is still the best JB collection in my opinion but Papa's Got A Brand New Bag has got to be worth £1.37 on it's own!

Got to watch out for JB compilations, he did some frankly appalling live albums in the deep south in the eighties and modern compilations albums are often padded with this crap - Star Time is stunning but the official Greatest hits compilations are very good, just make sure you get the studio stuff or live from the Apollo, not live from Memphis.

Makes me wonder if this particular comp is a 'live' or 'studio' version at this price.
I've got loads of stuff on vinyl but don't actually own a JB cd yet. If someone can confirm if this is a 'normal' recording I'll buy it.

With all due respect to those critisising his music or the quality of the recording, it's £1.37 delivered! Hardly about to break the bank is it!

I was thinking the same. The studio versions are so good that the live versions are generally worthless in my opinion. You gotta have Bootsy, Maceo, Pee Wee, Fred etc to give it the groove.

There are plenty of CDs I wouldn't waste £1.37 on and if this is inferior live recordings this is one of them.

I bought one believing it to be a 'studio version'.

For what it's worth; I'll update the thread when I receive it to let all know.

Besides, it's now temporarily out of stock; so I will expire.

Thanks for the interest chaps...........
