Agreed... but I'd still far rather buy it on CD single than get a download.

That "fair share" will be about 2p. Thats not to say that buying this wont help the artist, a hit single will do wonders for ticket sales and general interest in their music, but don't kid yourself in thinking illegal downloads steal all of an artists income, nearly all the money from music sales goes to record labels. If you really want to support an artist buy a tshirt or see them live.

And who 'creates', manages and looks after the artist?!

And what do the record labels do when they don't get as much income - they charge everyone else higher prices.

Boooo to piracy...

If the record labels dont get as much income, they just rip off the artists some more.
After all they take a bigger slice out of mp3 downloads than cd sales.

And piracy is largely their own fault, remember napster?
All they did was try and shut down anything they could, instead of doing legal downloads then.
As well as copy-protection on CD's, so if you wanted it on your mp3 player you HAD to get it illegally.
Push people away from CD's and make them figure out how to pirate it.
Great business sense.
Piracy wouldnt be as prevalent as it is today if the record labels hadnt screwed up so royally.
And it is a business after all, make bad choices you pay the consequences just like all others.
They just like to try and shift the blame from themselves onto the evil pirates (some of whom they created), at every opportunity they get.

There's a fair few other tracks for 29p like Run (leona) and Poker face (lady gaga) btw
