Nice set, I was looking at these yesterday to go with the Onkyo TX-SR608B.

ive got these hooked upto a Denon 1909 and they are really good for the size. Not the greatest for music but for 5.1 soundtracks they really do punch above their size and price band.

Nice and discreet for placing around the living room.

It's just a speaker set - you'll need a HDMI capable amplifier or one with optical in to be able to use with a PS3 effectively.

This is a speaker set - you would need an amp to connect these to (which would have optical/HDMI,etc)

Good price, nearly bought some of these 6 months ago for £250 which was a good price back then,
they have very good reviews, but I ended up with Kef eggs. Heat Added.

thanks, I know a lot of people like KEF's but they just don't do it for me...

Have also had my eye on these for a few months, looks like a good price, so have some heat.

Does anyone know if these come with wall mounting brackets?

Yes they do. Not great brackets though but do the job. The speakers themselves are excellent, I have a set. Heat added, good price.

Had these for about a year now - awesome speakers!
#13
Also got some of these, they are sex, good price also.

I got these two years ago for the bargain price of £185 delivered. Paired them with an Onkyo 605 and connected up to PS3 for proper HD sound. To my ears they sound great, but then I'm no audiophile - I went by the What Hi-Fi 5* rating and assumed they must be good.

If you have a large room they may not have the necessary power but they are more likely to get past other halves as they are nice and discrete and look pretty classy for the price.

Good deal!

They were £250 from RS last month and I couldn't decide between them and the Tannoy SFX's. Went with the Tannoys in the end but for this price, would not have!
#16
I got these for my father-in-law on the strength of the What Hi-Fi 5* review, but at the same time got myself a set of KEF KHT2005.3 speakers with exactly the same Onkyo amp.
I'll be honest, the difference is day and night, not just to me, but everyone that hears them. The KEFs are awesome and the Jamo's are just plain average, but at this price point are an excellent buy.

Heat Added.

spoke to a guy at Richer Sounds just now, and he put me off them, telling me to opt for the CANTON MOVIE 80CX for superior sound quality at £250, or the Tannoy SFX5.1 at £200. Read about the Cantons, and think I'll get a set of those instead... good old German engineering.

I have Cantons in my front room and they are fantastic!! Got Kef Eggs in my cinema room and they are great also :) These definitely seem a good bargain for the price - haven't heard them myself, but usually What Hi-Fi recommendations are good to go by!

I bought a similar set in Holland last week (A407 HCS 5) with the only difference that the front speakers were tall standing ones and it has a meatier sub. This set retailed for €675 last year and now cost me €332!

I haven't properly set up yet, but build quality and looks are very good. I was originally going to buy this set and at £179 this is very hot.

At their £700 price tag I certainly hope the difference is night and day!

Whoa, talk about overkill on the amp :)

If you plan to upgrade the speakers to something better later on then fair enough, but you could get away with a much AV cheaper receiver and still let those speakers perform to the best of their abilities.

Very good speakers for the money though. Heat added.

Can anyone recommend me a reasonable amp to match? I need HDMI video & Audio switching (at least 4) I will be using it for TV, Bluerays and background music (Apple TV)

Budget for amp is £200-250 ish

Maybe worth stating that I live in a Flat so would love something that sounds good at low volumes and something where the sound doesn't jump up and down too much (my girlfriend hates that) believe there's some kind of processing built in to cut this out / down.

Why don't you get the Onkyo set from Comet for £300?

If you want these speakers and a great AV amp then a bargain can be had at Best Buy as they are doing these speakers with the new Onkyo TX-SR508 3D Capable AV amp for £399 (Usually £499 for the set but have 20% off for the next 4 days!)

Thanks, I saw that, it'll save me £60 over the Richer Sounds price, about £40 in petrol and 4 hours :)

Not a fan of Richer Sounds but it's just around the corner for me

These are just speakers, they will need an amp to work, than you can hook the amp to what ever you want.

For stanalone 5.1 look at logitech Z5500 which has toslink (i think
