good deal thanks... heated up!

Seems a great deal, and great if you haven't used your Amazon voucher on here yet.

However! This jug doesn't seem to have very good reviews at all. It looks like the lid doesn't fit well and just sits on top making it easy to fall off when pouring.

Also, the most important part, it appears that no one knows where to find the spare filters for it!

Anyone have any experience with these or the filters?

This is the same or similar jug that Amazon gave away with the Daily Mail earlier this year (or was it last year? I forget). The reason it's so cheap/free is because the filters aren't the standard ones that you can buy generic versions of from Wilko's etc.

I found nothing wrong with it as a water jug, but it's a waste of space as a filter jug.

So not really any good if I just want it for filtering water? There doesn't seem to be much room for filtered water I have to say.

Most of the Brita filter jugs have 1.5L filtered water capacity :)

Nah it's fine. I got it from the Daily Mail freebie thingy, you just need to make sure that you have the lid on the right way round and it really does stay.

The filters can be bought from amzon no problems at all, works out way cheaper than the britta ones.

Didn't realise you could buy the filters from Amazon ( no mention by edi)
Now an extremely hot deal!

Sorry... to edit....

If you get the double cartridges you save a little bit more: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000V9IAQQ/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Got this when it was free last year as well, can't knock it and filters seem cheap enough on Amazon.

I too got one when they were 100% free and have no idea what lid issue you are talking about, I put the lid on, it fits, its stays - first time, every time.

Indeed you can get the filters from amazon and they are no more expensive than other brands so good deal.

just ordered it . used the free amazon gift voucher from this site so total price with 1 months free trial of next day del on amazon £o.oo.
gave my free one from last year as house warming gift to me brother.
he thinks its brill when the lid is on the right way round.

good price,

but the comments left on amazon kinda put you off.

those comments were left by people who got this for free as well !

I don't often post here unless I have something useful to say. I can't comment on the jug itself, but I do have an aqua optima filter jug which I use daily. The hard water where I live tastes terrible and this makes it so much nicer. I buy my filters from aqua-optima.com direct. A 12 pack of double life cartridges (they last 2 months each) costs £34. So at £17 per year these work out good value for money and the filters filter well. They often have deals on their site, sometimes to get the jug free with the filters. At the moment n the single filters are on offer. (12 for £19.99)
In terms of customer service, I was given a new jug and foolishly tried to put the lid on the wrong way and broke one of the retaining tabs. I contacted them direct and they offered to send me a replacement lid free of charge, even though it had been my fault. And the filters turned up very speedily when I ordered them.
So I would rater aqua optima highly, even though I can't comment on the actual jug itself.

Don't get me wrong, it filters the water just fine! I got rid of mine solely because I couldn't get cheap replacement filters for it.

I got one of the free ones earlier this year. Very happy with the jug. No problems with the lid (although you can put it on the wrong way round) and you can get the filters very easily. I find it filters much more quickly than the 'universal' style cartridges.

if your spending over £15 well worth the price, cartridges are heavily discounted too!
doesnt seem as well marketed as the maxtra range though, as this is the first ive heard of this product

Just got my jug and looks good. Only problem is the timer isn't working so I think the battery has gone. BUT it is a sealed unit so the whole timer needs to be replaced:shock:

I bought 2 and thought the timer on both weren't working at first, however I eventually realised that you need to press the reset button quite hard to make it come on.

I ordered 2 packs of 6 filters for them too 'cos they were a third of the normal price and i'm very happy with them, was going to order some more but they have gone back up to more or less normal price, however the packs of 3 double life cartridges are still very cheap so I ordered some of those instead, reckon i've got a years supply now for an excellent price, so thanks edi.

Hi wolfee, does the display remain on? I eventually got the display to show itself after parking my car on the reset button, but it vanished as soon as I drove off it :-D

lol, yeah I was surprised at how much pressure was needed too. It doesn't stay on, reckon that's to preserve battery life as, like you said earlier it;s a sealed unit (probably to keep it waterproof) so replacing the battery is not possible. Just hold down reset button for 5 seconds to reset when a new filter is installed and just press the same button briefly to view the timer
