Thanks for posting the list. I didn't know they existed until yesterday! The Judas Priest & B.O.C. ones look tempting and I've noticed a handfull on Amazon MP3 download for an even better price of £7.99 as well as several of the CD sets at under a tenner. They are a great way to get introduced to a new artist/band or if you still have a lot of your classic stuff on vinyl that needs replacing (like me ).

Its just a shame that a lot of them will only appeal to a minority.

I don't think that's necessarily true. This is Sony we're talking about, and these are some of their longest running, most successful artists. Admittedly some key ones like Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne are currently absent, but they're adding to the list all the time.

Point taken. I posted the George Benson set as an MP3 download for only £7.99 but it didn't get much heat, maybe its him I was thinking about having a small following

the George Benson set seems to be doing okay, not as well as this post but quite well IMO.

Aside from not having the disc/case/sleeve etc is there any downside to getting the MP3 download that you can think of?

Voted both this and the Benson offers hot BTW

Probably MP3 audio quality V's CD audio quality, but to the average Joe with average audio equipment (like me!) its more than likely to go unnoticed anyway. You can't argue with 15p a track though

The good thing about some of these 5 CD sets (or MP3 downloads) is that they contain the remastered/re-issued versions of the albums with extra live tracks or previously unreleased studio tracks.
