This must be the Christmas number one. Do your bit to save the music industry at an incredibly bargain price.

I just checked the HMV downloads section (who do count towards the charts) and find that Jeff Buckley is NOW available. As I know 100% that HMV do count I am going to suggest that people download from HMVhttp://hmv.com/hmvweb/digitalProduct...ductId=6361670 for 69p

Something is happening. That's for sure. It wasn't available as a download single on Saturday night.

I suggest everyone now downloads from HMV...as it will count.

Other places to download from are : -

http://www.7digital.com/artists/jeff-buckley/hallelujah-1/ - unencumbered high quality 320k mp3 89p

http://www.tunetribe.com/product/index.html?id=604507 - cheaper but semi-crippled WMA (windows file) only 49p

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=254578201&s=143444 - 79p but DRM AAC file from Apple

http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download-Track/4-/6754724/Hallelujah/Product.html?aid=6754310 - Play.com 65p

With regards to Amazon, this i a copy of an email sent to dromoreboy : -

If anyone can find a MP3 download of this cheaper (that will count towards "The Charts") please post it. I already have this song on about 3 different JB CD's but am more than happy to spend a couple of quid to save the music industry. We will all suffer in the end if X Factor and Simon Cowell wins.

This is not the original - it was originally by Leonard Cohen - but Jeff Buckley's version is beautiful. When I first heard the album Grace, I could listen to nothing else for weeks.......sorely missed......:-(

You may not realise this but Jimi Hendrix himself was first catapulted into the charts by such dealings, in 1967. And you can trust me, it wasn't a new practice even then.

Speaking of covers that beat the original, his 'All Along the Watchtower' is pretty much the definitive cover-outdoing-original. And Dylan's version was is no need of improvement!

Check out Rufus Wainwrights version. I much prefer it.
#27
This cover by the greatly missed Jeff Buckley is a true heartfelt version by someone who understand the song. Not some useless karioke wannnabe who just over sings ever word and has to have a grand key change to add fake emotion.

I doubt it will get to #1 but it would be nice to get it in the top 10 at least, just so the great public can hear a true amazing voice.

******Remember to wait to download it until MONDAY 15TH DECEMBER to make sure we challenge the X Factor debacle. Let's make everyone realise how great Buckley's version is.****

Wednesday 10th - 1000 people
Thursday 11th - 7000
Friday 12th - 14000

WOW - so impressed - we now have over 3,000 members - we are growing fast but let's not stop there. 100,000 is the aim and then next week if everyone downloads the track twice (use a different site each time) we have a chance. But as has been said before, even if we don't make Number 1 we will make the charts, and make people realise that music is not just a "numbers" game - it is something sung by people with passion and talent beyond what 0901 etc tells us....

Even though I already have it I will still be downloading this to try and stop that alex's awful version getting to NO.1

Love the JB version, one of my favourite songs. Alexandra done a good job imho...Here is KD Lang's version on Jools Holland, to anyone who might not have seen it, superb also. -

I thought Alex was fab!

This is so sad, people need to seriously grow up. I mean, sure, Buckley's version is awesome, but is everyone here, especially those pahetic individuals who have already purchased the song, so imature that they're gonna buy it purely to stop Alex from being number one. I mean sure, if you actually don't have this song and really like Buckley's version, then go for it, but to all the rest of you, grow up
#38
Jeff's version is pricelessly amazing so this is definitely a hot deal! That alexandra bird was the most annoying winner ever, 'FANK YOU BEYONCE!
#39
And to all of you to say that Alex's version was awful, did you actually see it?? As I'm sure that anyone who did see it would be able to recognise that, even if it wasn't to their taste, vocally outstanding, seriously people

John Cale did a great version too, but none of them are a patch on Jeff Buckley's.
