Great find, Heat added, I purchased the Sony A200 last year for £270 incl 18-55mm lens. The A330 is a step up. Great thing about Sony Alpha cameras is that you can purchase an array of old Minolta lens, being the same bayonet fitting as well as using the better priced Sony range of lens. The battery life is really long on this camera, oh and the picture quality is superb. Heres a few amateur shots;

How does it compare against the Sony A450L which is the same price at Comet? http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sony-a450l-dslr-camera-with-18-55mm/721720/#post9128955

We've been looking at this camera, still not sure what to get tho, between this sony, canon EOS1000D £350 and the nikon D3000 £334. Not sure if the price will sway me to get this one now. Unless anyone can give me a better reason to get the canon or nikon instead????

check out the review here, and if you tab along to verdict, it is compared against the cameras you mention :)

Personally I think, if you are starting from scatch (ie no lenses already) I would get down to jessops or somewhere and handle the camera's, see which you like the feel of most. All 3 camera's will give decent results, but if you are uncomfortable with the camera it will affect the quality of shots you take. For me I prefer the Sony and Canon over the Nikon but plenty of others would prefer the Nikon.

I would say, again in my view, in body stabilisation is a massive plus.

I'd take colinsunderland's advice and go to Currys and handle all DSLRs on display (they have most models on chains in my Currys and you don't need to call an assistant).

I do a lot of low light photography without flash, so I would go for a Canon because the Sony is just not so good in low light photography.

BTW, the Sony A450 has the better grip over the A330, while specs are similar.

Thanks for that, we have been to jessops and like you say, I did prefer to hold the sony and canon, the Nikon's are a bit "hard" If you see what I mean, not as smooth as the sony and canon.
Also just found this is back in stock, is this even better, gonna go out of stock quick I think so dont know wether to just go for it or not (its still a lot of money in my book)

manda1, you're welcome.
In its favour, the a330 does have tiltable liveview screen which can be useful.Don't jump in and buy extra sony lenses, as the old Konica Minolta ones are all over ebay, and do a good job at cheaper cost. This is a good website for all Sony owners Dyxum and lens reviews

Had a quick look online a this is a lower model than the A450, though lighter, so doesn't seen that good of a deal in comparison.

Unlike the two two cameras directly below it, the A330 and A380, which featured a complete design overhaul with smaller, lighter plastic body and uncomfortable handgrip, the A450 is bigger, better built (although still made of plastic) and has a much more pronounced handgrip that markedly improves the handling, particularly if you have medium-to-large hands. I much preferred using the A450 compared to the A330/A380, predominantly because of the chunkier handgrip.
