Next cheapest I can find is £9.18

For those who have see this, you wll already know what an amazing piece of television it was. For those of you who haven't; well, grab a bargain. Franco Zeffirelli is simply just one of the finest film makers ever....end of. And look at the cast list?!?!! Oh, and you do not need to be religious/christian to appreciate this fim.

This epic chronicle of Christ begins with the arrangements of the wedding between Joseph and Mary, proceeds through Jesus' birth, his encounter with John the Baptist, and all the way to the grueling, transfigurative end. The all-star cast includes Anne Bancroft, Laurence Olivier, Michael York, James Mason, Rod Steiger, and Robert Powell as Jesus. As the beautiful locations, superb performances, and reverent portrayals reveal, Franco Zeffirelli (OTELLO, HAMLET) directed this six-hour-plus television miniseries with palpable passion.

Available for the first time on DVD, this full un-edited version is a compelling portrayal of the life and death of Jesus (Robert Powell). Traced from birth, through to childhood, his baptism by John the Baptist (Michael York) and the miracles; culminating in his Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Four years in the making, this powerful epic has been critically acclaimed by religious leaders worldwide for its sensitivity and passion. Directed by Oscar nominee, Franco Zeffirelli, this internationally acclaimed and award-winning screen version of the life of Jesus is a captivating production coupled with historical and religious accuracy.

Robert Powell stars as Jesus and a star studded international cast ads depth and humanity to the roles of the saints, sinners and ordinary people who walked in the footsteps of the Lord.

it's a shame all of the posters thus far have made a joke about a post involving religion. Just because it's the 'in thing' to do.

I would have thought that being an atheist (this is a guess), would lend you the realisation that by bashing their religion, you are being as bad as the religious are trying to convert you to their views.

grow up.

Seeing this post has bought back memories of being in religious education lessons at school. It lasts 8hrs or that's how it felt. Not a DVD for any occassion other than school - In my opinion

Be better off letting them watch the original star wars trilogy, a lot more factual and a lot less holes in the plot.

PMSL!:-D

having said that, this was an excellent telling of the bible story.
i am a humanist btw, not a christian.

It's cheaper to go to church. You just have to shake the collection plate a bit to make people either side of you think you are paying.

Are people's beliefs so weak that they can't take a little mocking?

Again, who keeps removing the posts repeatedly without any advice?

It's not going unnoticed that many posts are being left which are equally as inflammatory.

It works both ways actually. This is an offer for something that may well be a good film at a good price, but that doesn't necessarily mean to say that you need to be a devoutly religious person to appreciate it.

Is this the one where he comes back to life to star in a long running hospital soap? because if it is, its rubbish.

Following the thread today it appears posts that have insulted/defended belief systems have been removed and left in equal measure.

My posts have been deleted. Fair doos, they like others might detract from the usually good natured cooperative nature of the site. No problems with the moderation here.

Some of you guys are bringing shame upon yourselves and this community. Looking at the reputations that some of you have built up I would have thought that you would be consious of the need to uphold the reputation of this website and avoid posting such inflamitory and insensative remarks. Shame on you...

You notice with all these religious types when they hear something they dont like how un-christian they become,,,,,,,,You are all hypocrites and fraudsters. Organised religions have always been and will always be a way of controlling the masses and IMO the worst thing invented by man apart from the Sinclair C5.

Every time you say something like that I have a vision of you (for some reason) wearing a toga and reading from a parchment scroll.

You always notice with these anti religious types how they cry foul when their remarks aren't left unchallenged - hypocrites.

Moderator feel free to remove this post - I won't throw a tantrum unlike the 'cool kids', who want to show how wonderfully clever they are.
