I got myself one a couple of months ago and its doing a better job than my oven (my dad replaced a full working one with the current one which i find really broken). I recommend this as long as you dont go cooking something thats bigger than the halogen oven itself. Remember not to touch the bowl as it gets really hot after you're finish with it so before to leave it to cool down before packing it away. Voted HOT
#3
I'm tempted.

I got one a couple of weeks ago, really pleased with it so far!

Hot Pot!

One of those items that most folk will use for a few months but will then end up relegated to the back of the cupboard....I've seen it happen with both people I know who bought these from QVC...so cold for me

These look rubbish, but I so wanna try one...
Someone talk me out of it...

Ok see if I can help out.

A few friend shave these and I wanted to buy one but their verdict is its a waste of money-main compliant is it does not do the job i.e cook. Come to think of it do any other JML products work! Can't say I am the best person to answer as I have never tried a JML product!

Is this similar to the Tefal Actifry.
#9
I've had one for over a year and hardly ever use my oven now, voted hot.
#10
Just ordered mine. 5% Quidco too, I believe,
#11
I have had the Nu-Wave oven which is basically the same thing and we never cook anything now unless it goes in the oven, the foods cooks so much tastier and you can cook from frozen without having to defrost first, great if you forgot to take you sunday joint out of the freezer, i may get one of these just as a backup in case my nu-wave ever breaks as you cant get then in the uk any longer.
#12
Excellent price. The wife uses this all the time now. Heat added

I had one of these and didnt like it and sent it back
I did however buy a mini oven from argos, which has halogen elements anyway
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4230285/Trail/searchtext%3EMINI+OVEN.htm

(19.99) was 12.99 a while back

and cooks really well, heats up very quick, and i also use it as a toaster as well as an oven for small jobs
a square non-stick'sandwich tray' from the supermarkets fit it well, so i find it much more useful
#14
our oven has broke, bought a george foreman grill but i miss pizza and nicer oven food lol

my question... what size pizza would this cook... eg ya classic asda/iceland/goodfellows frozen 1's?
#15
Why do I always want kitchen gadgets like this really badly?

Would these still do great roast potatoes?
#16
This looks great! I really want one but don't see the point as I already have an oven. Fab for those who don't! Heat added.
#17
Wasn't the Coopers Halogen oven on *m*z*n generally considered to be much better?
#18
I have Coopers' version of this oven (same thing, different name, £40) and I use it quite a bit (I also got the accessories to go with it). The claim that it can cook food so much faster than a normal oven is complete rubbish (unless you have a really poor oven), though you do save time not having to wait for the oven to warm up.

It can cook bacon almost like a grill and it does oven chips (on the perforated tray which might be meant for steaming) quite well too. You are supposed to turn things over half way through cooking though. When it comes to doing a roast, my attempt did not turn out anywhere near as well as they usually do in a normal oven, mainly because the roasties were on the bottom rack, under the meat (on a higher rack) and thus did not get direct heat from the lamp (might be able to improve on this by moving stuff about or with more attempts, but for Sunday roasts, I'm sticking to my main oven in future due to my preference for it to be more crispy). I've cooked a thin base pizza in it before and that turned out okay, but don't know how a thicker based one would fair (since you cannot turn them over).

Bottom line is, if you use your oven a lot for cooking things that take up to 40 minutes, this thing will save you time. It's also easy to clean. Oh, and it has a timer that will turn the oven off - handy if you sometimes get distracted in another room.

why would you turn a pizza over? lol
#20
great deal !
does anyone know of a working discount/ free delivery code ? ;-)
cheers.
#21
You turn things over because it is the lamp located at the top which cooks the food - the air inside the unit is not first heated to a high temperature like in a standard oven. If you don't turn some items over, they will be cooked really well on top and hardly at all underneath.

good price, we're on our 2nd JML, use ours nearly every day. First one lasted 14 months, bought the 2nd at Argos with vouchers and bought the extended warranty. Hot
#23
we have the prolectrix version of this, looks the same, cannot praise it enough...especially as my husband loves cooking in it so much he cooks most nights now..:whistling:
seriously...we have hardly used our proper big oven since we bought one!!! absolutely brilliant buy!! have some rep:-D
and.......................the best bit is it more or less cleans itself, no need to scrub baking trays or dirty ovens anymore......what more could u ask for

JML Halogen Oven !
#25
I recently saw the same oven on Costco for a but more than this but the model was V0811. Do JML only do 1 halogen oven or more as I can only see this one on their site.

Is it also worth getting the additional 2 year warranty as I've heard these can break after a year.
#26
Nice find edi, just ordered 7 more for other family members.

Best thing in the house!!

Been using these types of ovens for a good few years (family of 5) and it's used every day. Our main oven is only used for big item.

Bought a similar one from Qvc a few weeks ago,we couldn't get on with it,sent it back,

Main question, for a 20 minute cook, say Oven Chips etc, does this use up less electricity than a convential fan oven?
#30
Best way to cook pizza is to cook the top fist, take the pizza out, put some grease proof paper on the top, spin it over then cook the base...... then turn it back for 2 mins.......................
Crispy base!!!

what kinda size pizza's?
#33
£1.74 been tracked on Quidco, just had an email confirmation, just to update.
#34
Buy it by all means
I promise you - you will return it - if after a year - tough
Why?
1. Lead is too small
2. once you lift the lead - you will be looking for a place to put it
3. When bulb fuses - you will not be able to replace it
4. RUST - Those who have already bought one - WATCHOUT
As I said from where and how?
Just check - if you had one for over a year, and still using it

Upto about 10", If you don't crisp the base it tends to be a bit "Linp"

I thought mine was a "white elephant" at first, got the knack of it now..BRILL: thumbsup:

To get 1 year from it for £30.00 is good value...
My gas bill will be that low since I changed over they'll think I'm tampering with the meter.
