I was looking for a new rice cooker on Amazon and came across this which gets superb reviews. Basically it is a computerised cooker that frys, steams, cooks rice, boils, stews, slow cooks etc. It get very good reviews and people say it cooks food to perfection. Everywhere it is £90- £99 , but on JML's own website it is now half price.
There is a delivery charge of £6.99 I think on top, but by using code TYP541R you get another 10% off.
Given I was going to spend about £30 on a rice cooker, this seems like a bargain.

Its a Bread Maker rehashed as a cooker, you can do exactly the same in any bread maker!
#5
What's the capacity? Would it hold enough 2 feed a family of 5?
#6
Hmm seems you'd need more than one though. . . chilli with rice. . one to do the chilli one to do the rice :)

It apparently does feed family of five.

Since when has rice been difficult to cook in a saucepan? LOL

Got mine on Friday....used it three times now.

So far so good - very happy with it.

In my personal opinion the recipe book is a little bit useless - it says to fry certain things on timer for 5 minutes before making soup etc, but it has barely warmed up by 5 minutes so it should be nearer ten.

Other than that, pleased with my purchase!

I have to say I got this Star Chef and within a week we would not be without it. It does the rice absolutely spot on with no sticking, but I am using it for a lot of slow cooked meals- braised steak in red wine done for 6 hours is great. Asda chicken in sauce (raw breasts) do great for 2 hours 15. Cooked breakfast ready for 7.30 am. It is really a great piece of kit. Instructions are absolute crap though- for example no where does it say you have to put it on 'Soup/Stew' to slow cook.

Got mine the other day mate, made a mess of porridge on the first use, kept the lid down for the full 10 minutes instead of opening half way through, and the porridge blew out of the air vents and all over the work tops, took me an hour cleaning up lol but the porridge that was still in the chef was absolutely gorgeous, best porridge ive ever had in fact! you know anywhere online with more recipes'/cooking times etc?

Sorry know of no where- could do with an internet site setting up with Star Chef recipes on. We are very happy with ours- the rice cooks to perfection too.
