Note this is the SLR version, so larger than the original model and currently sell for £25 upwards elsewhere.

Woo hoo!
Thank you.
Off to Adsa after work - Just what my K10D was looking for!

Excellent price. That's £30 at 7dayshop. What store did you see this at?

Ah. Huyton. I'll learn to read one day.

A word of caution, you might find this a little too lightweight for your K10D - especially with a long zoom (and/or battery grip). It's just about OK with the 'kit' zoom (18-55) as a table top tripod though I'm not sure I'd trust it wrapped around anything too far above a soft landing:w00t:

Larger DSLR's like the K10D really need the SLR ZOOM Gorillapod which is somewhat more expensive (and not in Asda!).

I hope this is nationwide - it had a properly printed 'Price Cut' yellow label on the display, so it didn't look like a store specific special.

"SLR Zoom" is the one to go for :)

Five (now four) in Hereford.
Thanks OP.

I'll go tomorrow to check it out.

Great deal but still £18 at The Jewel in Edinburgh

Might be worth getting it scanned if you want one - a friend went to Asda in Wavertree (near Liverpool) this afternoon only to find them still priced at £18 on the shelf ticket, but when she took it to the checkout to ask it scanned at £9.00...so fortunately she is still my friend!

i checked with the (very helpful) guy at the counter and they were coming up at £18. he said it was strange because these deals are usually nationwide.

I agree. If you have a DSLR bigger than the 450D or D90 then go for the bigger more rugged zoom model. Of course this one is fine for floor/ground/rock mounted shots, but don't expect it to support a more pro DSLR at funny angles. I use it with my lightweight 450D and it seems ok.

Hot deal tho

Just been to the local asda in Thurmaston (Leics), and there was 1 left on the shelf. It didn't have a yellow ticket, just a normal white ticket, but was £9. When I took it to the counter, the woman mentioned that "it was a very good price, half price for today". Dunno how true it is (that it was only meant to be today), but who cares.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a new slr camera, they had a pentax k100d for half price at £149 including the kit lens. Sounds like a fairly cheap price for someone who just wants something fairly cheap to get in to dslr with (not the best spec, but will give people a head start on how to use one etc :p)
#15
didn't see any in my local ASDA

but they do have a 10 Way Tower extension socket with surge protection for £10 which is a pretty good price for a 10-way extension

Can I ask you a question everyone?

are they any good for Canon 450D with Standard Kit lens?

How do you use it? Just attach it to the tree or something?

I appreciate your replies.

Thanks,

#20
Anybody got a product code for this from their receipt? Just to help find one in a local store :)
#21

Thanx for this post - awesome find !

:D

Just picked up 2 at Castlepoint Bournemouth. 3 left.

Great deal thanks .

Thanks for the tip. My local (Falkirk) had these for £9 and also the much smaller compact-camera ones for £7.50, was really pleased as that's the one I wanted anyway (didn't expect the SLR ones to be quite so big but I suppose it stands to reason!).
#24
Thanks for the tip, just been to the Asda at Fosse Park (Leicester) and they now have 2 left on the shelf (I got one myself) priced up at £9.

Sorry, I don't have a Canon but I refer you to my earlier post - I wouldn't recommend this with a long zoom, there is a SLR ZOOM model of Gorillapod:

http://joby.com/products/gorillapod/slrzoom/

However it is (not surprisingly) more expensive and Asda don't sell them...

Hi to answer you I picked up one today and the rear of the carton says it will take max weight 800g / 1.75lbs. Does not state if this is on its own (prolly) or a suggested max with hand support.

AS to zooms and other cameras your answers will be a mix of camera weight and shutter speed innit.

Got this for photography yes but also it wraps nice round my bed headboard. Will fabricate a holder then load some films onto the tocco and be able to lie on my back, headphones in, real cosy and watch a film at bedtime right in front on my fizog.;-)
#31
btw there were 3 left in Wigan's store ca. 1pm today.

This sounds intresting but iam not sure exctally what you mean? tocco?
#33
Oh its just a mobile phone with a big screen. I've always believed the best way to watch tv or a film in bed, is to lie on your EDIT: Back. Now I can do that with comfy headphones so full whack and not annoying anybody.

Not forgetting the other uses ...

could do my Ghost Rider (the real one) bit - on bike camera stuff :-D

Also Dil** cam :p

Better stop there! :whistling:

Haven't heard that expression in years! Used to use it all the time as well. :-D
#35
Gutted, i bought one for £28 last month.
#36
Got one of these as a pressie in April. I know it cost £23 from Amazon at the time so this is a bargain as it's a brilliant bit of kit.
#37
They still had 2 of these in ASDA Queensferry about 1 hour ago. They were marked up at £9.00
#38
Great got one thanks. Still 3 left marked at £9.00 in the ASDA Fratton Bridge Portsmouth

You mean the quick release? Rotate the locking collar - the topmost rubber section - to the unlock position (open padlock symbol), press and hold the release button (with Joby written on it) and slide the QR plate out.

Simples:)
