John Hughes died today, so remember the 80's with this boxset and chuckle again at Neal Page as he tries to get home for thanksgiving.

Ferris Buellers Day Off / Some Kind Of Wonderful / Pretty In Pink / Planes, Trains And Automobiles

John Hughes. What a massive, massive legend. To badly para-phrase Simple Minds:
We won't forget about you.

The Breakfast Club & Ferris Bueller are all time classics

Planes Trains & Automobiles is a great comedy.

R.I.P John

That's because you were never cool, even back in the 80's, and didn't 'get' it. ;-)

White socks and grey slip on shoes (with tassles) are well overdue a comeback I say!

What is it with people on this site posting deals on things the minute they hear someone has died, i find it a bit.... no very odd.

Dear Mr. Vernon: We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us: in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

Do elaborate.....

i guess the thought is, if you didn't like them when they were alive, why do you appreciate them more when they're dead..
i would still consider myself a fan and have only seen Ferris and Breakfast Club (not in this set!).. started watching pretty in pink and couldn't cope with it. couldn't stand Home Alone series but maybe they've improved with age :p

Ferris Buellers Day Off is in my top ten fave films. Classic stuff.

And Weird Science! A classic. The scene when Lisa is having a go at Garry's parents made me cry with laughter

Garry: Mom, I never toss off to anything!
Mom: [crying] You told me you were combing your hair!
Garry: But I was, I was!

I get that part. I was trying to see why it bothered you so much. HUKD is basically a community site, it has off topic forum posts and all sorts. Like any forum people fall out, have a bit of banter and sometimes a laugh. In my case, and probably others, posting a deal like this is, in our own little, inconsequential way, a tribute to someone who has affected us and it's good to see follow up comments of like minded people.

I love Ferris Beuller's day off, have grown up wih the film, and still find it hilarious, so sorry if this type of thing bothers you.

And there's your answer.

You've never seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off one of my all time classics not least because it reminds me of how I was way back then. :-D Then I became more like his friend. Now I'm a bit of both.:?

Took me 20 years to get the soundtrack too it. What would be do without the internet now. ;-)

nah i've seen Uncle Buck though, classic.

why are these "sets" always so incomplete or missing the best movies?!

full list of JH movies sorted by rating:

probably only be a few weeks till they do a proper posthumous collection.. which will probably still be incomplete or missing the best ones due to rights issues. the world sucks sometimes. i was actually downloading one of his movies when i heard this news*
*i already own that one on DVD before some nazi jumps on me.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot more people will mourn his passing than your own judging by that childish comment.

You are most probably right but then I'm not a film director, so while your latest post isnt "childish" it is "stoopid"
