Nice one, I nearly bought one of these for £320 at xmas and missed the deals. Cant afford one but might buy one at worry about it later at this price :D
#8
Quality camera great price you will ned a better lens though

Look for somthing that does f2.8 all the way though for more creativity
#9
great price, don't forget quidco!!
#10
********! For that price it's a perfectly adequate lens! And for that price you will not get a better starter SLR. Anyone who is tempted should go for it, I say. Anyone wanting to get into a bit of photography, using more than just a compact... this is perfect. Get in there while the price is SMOKING!
#11
Yup, I personally prefer Nikon but that is a SERIOUSLY good price for this camera. The lens is perfectly adequate to get you going (and then some) and most people won't ever need anything more.

Quidco 6% for electricals, but....

"The use of discount codes and vouchers will result in your cashback being declined."

Quidco is pre-vat, so about 18 quid, slightly better than the voucher.

buy it buy it buy it!
great price for a good piece of kit.

i started on the old 350D and now use daily a 5D, 40D and sometimes I get my hands on the 1D mk3 ;)

we all have to start somewhere and this is a perfect start and a good price. Cheaper than some good point and shoot's and you can keep upgrading as you develop your skills

yep (and it probably will be) just want to point how much you get

Good price, but I personally would buy the Olympus E410 with two lenses (14-42 + 50-150), superior lenses, cleaning system and live view from Ebuyer for £345

Just ordered one. Let's hope Quidco works too (but looks like it won't).

So is QUIDCO worth a punt, or might it mean that we won't get the cashback?
#20
I've got the 350D and this isn't a huge change in spec. but this is a great price!

The NEW 450D is currently around the £599 mark and this is an exceptional piece of kit and a great improvement on the 350D and 400D, I looked at one in Jessops the other day, the LCD and the Live View mode means I will be waiting awhile for a cheap 450D body instead, but if you want a DSLR now than this is a great deal, I'd particularly recommend budgeting for a decent lens, I have the Sigma 18-200 (around £200) and would whole heartedly recommend this, great results!

Oh, and if you are new to DSLR - once tried you will never consider buying a compact digital again except for the size - the quality difference is unbelievable when you consider how cheap a DSLR kit is now!

i have never been declined quidco when used with vouchers but you never know ... I would say it give it a try ... even if they dont respect the quidco at the price its still worth it ....

Is this better than the Sony H9 ? (not SLR but still v good )
You would need another lens with the above ? for maybe £200 +

Thanks for the post, great find.... just ordered one! fingers crossed 4 the quidco!!!

I got a 400D from Jessops when they made a printing error in Photography Magazine, ended up being £160 with the cashback! Having used it for the past 5 months the camera is so good, that I'd be happy to pay £290.
#26
I bought one of these on the Tesco deal (when they also bundled in a free Canon camera bag worth £30).

This is a cracking piece of kit. Most Nikon users do slate it, but it is great.

The lens is no where near as bad as people make out .. it is a kit lens so is not going to be amazing (none of the basic ones are).

I'm more than happy with the photo's I've been producing :)

HOT deal.
#27
Excellent Deal, went in to John Lewis to look at this last night. It's an excellent camera and with either the voucher or quidco a red hot price
#28
Amazing price. I paid £350 after cashback and staff discount back in August.
#29
i bought one from tesco on monday at the lower price, what sealed it for me was the triple clubcard points deal which is on at the moment so I got roughly £43 in deals. Was mildly please when I saw only a day later the price had gone back up. Cracking deal this tho even without clubcard points....
#30
also remember to get your flash memory from play.com or even get PC World to price match against them -10% of the difference - cant really be beaten on price...
#31
good spot. I've ordered one. Thanks again!

although this is a great camera, the price to add extra lenses doesn't make this great to me. 4/3rds system lenses are way too expensive and are not the best.

when i was first hunting for an slr i almost bought this one but when i saw a review of lenses for each of the cameras the only 70-300mm lens that would fit this one came in at £700 but the one for a canon (Tamron lens) was £100 and also was the best lens out of about 8.

basically it comes down on how far you want to go, great support for Nikon/Canon than nearly all other camera companies. if you get hooked it becomes an expensive hobby unless you get paid for the photos you take you'll need deep pockets to fund it :)

if you buy a canon/nikon you'll probably end up staying with that brand because you can carry your lenses (some) through to the next camera whereas the olympus doesn't go up to the semi pro/pro level so you'd end up starting again.

boy can i ramble!!!

This is a FANTASTIC price for an absolutely great starter decent quality DSLR from a long time reputable manufacturer.

I'm considering this on price alone now, compared to the Nikon D60 (which was days away from being bought)

Hot find (as long as you get it at the <£300 price)
#34
been looking for an excuse to get a d-slr for ages
now the time has come
i've ordered, hope to get the cashback
