Product Information
Sleek in a glossy black finish, the Philips BDP3000/05 Blu-ray disc player looks as good as the images it produces. When watching a Blu-ray disc, clever 1080/24p technology ensures you see the movie just as the director intended at the original 24 frames per second - when connected to a compatible 1080p TV.
And theres no need to throw away your standard definition DVDs: the Philips BDP3000/05's upscale feature processes them to give a high definition look, so youll still enjoy viewing your existing movie collection. You might even revisit some of the old classics you havent watched in a while!

For an equally thrilling audio experience you can connect the player to your compatible surround sound amplifier, and enjoy immersive Dolby TrueHD high fidelity 7.1 surround sound.

Connect the BDP3000/05 to the internet via its Ethernet port and youll experience even more functionality and fun. Theres the BD Live profile for a start. Depending on the pre-recorded Blu-ray disc, when your player is connected to the internet you can download a variety of up-to-date content (e.g. refreshed previews and special exclusives). Imagine downloading wallpaper and ringtones relating to the action movie youre watching, or taking part in a live online event relating to your favourite sci-fi film?

Great price. Its about time the price of branded bluray players started to stay under £100
#3
Saw it for that price in Asda last week.

#6
I paid this price for a multiregion DVD/BD player
#7
You might even be able to get it for £87.30 if you get PC World to price match and beat it by 10%.

Edit : I messed this up it's only 10% of the difference.

yep defo in store at £97. My local one (Leicester Fosse Park) had a big display of them, lots of stock.
#12
Just checked the PC World website and it is 10% of the difference, they are currently selling this at £119.99 so the discount is only £2.30. But you still get it for £94.70 and they also price match against Asda.
#13
Some great ideas there regarding price match..

hot but hoping prices come down even further after christmas
#15
Also £97 from sainsburys with next day delivery im waiting for mine one at the moment.

Multi region hackable for DVD (but, sadly not for Blu Ray).

1. Make sure there is no disc in the tray when you switch on.
2. Press "home" key on remote control.
3. Enter number "1389310".
4. Switch off. Wait a few seconds and then switch on...
That's it, region free.
#16
it was cheaper in Sainsburys the other day i think. mate got one, sure it was under £90
#17
Yea sure its cheap, but what about quality, anyone know how good it is compared to say a ps3 or maybe the slightly more expensive brands?
#18
Philips make poor quality electronics now a days hence why this is always so cheap. Wait for a better deal or pay a bit more and get something better. When watching HD output qulaity matters.

Yea it looks tempting but with BD its all about having a quality picture (& sound), so worth paying a little extra to get it. But still a good deal if your on a budget . . .

think these are in sainsburys too

Ditto. The price of films has come down to a more reasonable level lately, but I've not gotten onboard yet as the players are too expensive.

I'm hoping they fall by more than the £2 difference that VAT increase will make!

Great thing about this player is that it is DivX compatible, so we can play 'you know whats' on them :whistling:

Got one from Amazon, can confirm ASDA price is cheaper INSTORE, online price is completely different

I used to think like that but looking at a review of this on tructed reviews confirms that this player performs very well (just missing all the bells and whistles)

The reviews of this player are all very good when it comes to Quality of playback etc also loading times are meant to be pretty quick. Quite a few about on the net including AV Forums etc.

Seems to be a great buy for the money.

I'd rather have DivX compatibility than a 'Sony' badge stuck on the front!

Do you want to share, where and what model?
#34
I bought this one and have no regrets. It plays divx files burned to a disc without any problems. I only have the usual 1 year manufacturer's guarantee so a free 2 year guarantee is a great bonus.
#35
In case this one runs out.

99 quid with 2 years guarantee at M&S, there's various free delivery codes floating about.

I got the last Curtis 1100uk from Asda online, paid more for it than those lucky to get the Curry's deal. The rebrand Tevion is at Aldi, and is slightly better as you can add a usb flash memory for blu live. Upscales and plays wonderfully, several digit code sets to the region you want. Clunky machine but as I can watch my import DVDs and any region BD Im really happy with it.
#39
I have to say, we sell these where I work for around £100 but its easily the worst BD player we have, every film comes out grainy on all the tv's we tested it on. It really is worth finding a bit extra to get a Panasonic BD60 or the Sony 360

Is the screen set for THX or something similar to get the best out of the machine, or just hooked up?
