Most of the items are 5-10% off. For Lewis's, this isn't that impressive of a sale. I was hoping to see more items available on sale...... JD

You answered your own question. Marks/JL are worried they will make a large loss so they do it during the week to minimise how many people can get there...

This is on till Friday;-)

It's actually probably to encourage more spending during the week as weekends will be busy anyway.

Alternatively if you can't get there you could always order it online at the discounted price.

:thinking:I'm never that impressed by John Lewis sales. John Lewis is lovely but why would you pay the price? It remains to be seen whether people still will or whether they will be left with loads of stock after Xmas

Isnt it response to Debenhams and BHS as well lol
A little High Street war break out never hurt anyone
#13
Yup - Am soooooo looking forward to xmas sales this year. Attempting to resist temtation as guessing there will be much much better bargains to be had.
#14
It's not really a sale, it's just them sticking to their commitment that they are "never knowingly undersold". They do it whenever anyone has one of these short events.
#15
added more items today i think.
#16
Thanks for posting this, was just thinking when I saw their Christmas ad that John Lewis are a fab company and sincerely hope they don't go under, they have always stood for quality and honoured their price matching (well as far as I am concerned they have).

My dishwasher was on its way out and I priced a Siemens one to replace it which worked out at just about £300 with the discount vouchers here - and quidco.

When the dishewasher packed in the price of the Siemens washer was £360, now its priced at £380.

I have marked about 15 - 20 things I would consider buying if the prices fell after chistmas, and of these not one appeared in this sale.

So to me its COLD

Have spotted a few things cheaper, but did manage to buy some items today in Oxford Street which were a bit cheaper than Debenhams (with there 25% off promotions). JL can be a bit frustrating as they do not shout about their prices like other retailers....so you have to seek them out. Which is why they are ethical in how they go about their business and their customer service is excellent.

Well I was in Watford JL today and didnt see much in the way of a sale...HOWEVER they did have about 30 good furniture items that were being re-sold (sofas, chairs etc). Previous customers had returned them for often customer error reasons (sofa too big etc), and I found a nice sofa reduced from £795 to £397. Have reserved it, but they have a few other good uns if anybody is interested.

Saved me 10% on a Dualit hand mixer, cheers

Bought the MENSA alarm clock for £12, its £18.99 elsewhere. Cheers

Like M&S, John Lewis offers a good service and quality products at premium prices.

However this meager selection is naff.

M&S and BHS offered 20% off everything and 25% off everything at Debenhams, so to say this is a "response" to their competitors, its an extremely poor one...

Brrrrr Cold.

Not quite 'Everything' is discounted, be careful ... you will note that most retailers state a very small 'up to' piece of text in their marketing banners. For example, Debenhams have a rather nice 'Stellar' cutlery set which was already discounted from £200 to £100 pre sale. Went into the store today expecting it to be further reduced in the sale but was still at £100 and the shop assistant confirmed that there was no further reduction to be had on this. I guess up to 25% also includes 0% :-(

JL are never knowingly undersold and head and shoulders above MS IMO. Its an age old adage but you get what you pay for!

Is this still on? Link says page no longer available.

We've got loads of John Lewis vouchers from our wedding that we need to spend, so hoping for a good sale at some point over Christmas. Fingers crossed :)

The Debenhams sale was not 25% off everything, only selected items!!
