Good price and the demo went up on xbox live the other night if anyone wants to try it first

Don't forget 2% off with the code 'PP-02-DISCOUNT' = £27.43

Plus 4% quidco makes £26.34 by my calculations :)

Some more details of the game from Amazon....

Amazon.co.uk Preview
Companies are always going on about the synergy between movies and video games, but all this really ever seems to mean is lots of dreadful movie tie-ins where all the money has been spent on celebrity voiceovers. Stranglehold is different though, in that it’s essentially a sequel to 1992’s classic movie Hard Boiled, made purely for video games. This time Inspector "Tequila" Yuen is unleashing his unorthodox policing methods on Russian crime bosses in both Hong Kong and Chicago. It stars the likeness of original lead Chow Yun Fat and has been developed with hands-on help from director John Woo – who it turns out does seem to know a thing or two about video games.
Of course video games have been ripping off John Woo for years, particularly his trademark slow motion shots of two-handed pistol action. As a result this initially seems dangerously similar to Max Payne et al., but the graphical power of the next generation consoles and PC ensures that this is a far more dynamic and interactive affair. Not only can you make use of a bullet time effect (call "Tequila time" here) to slow down time around you but almost all of the scenery can be used too, from sliding down banisters guns firing to scooting across the room on top of a waiter’s trolley. The damage done as you go is truly impressive, with tiles shattering off the walls, chandeliers impaling bad guys as they fall and electric wires and water mains unhinging themselves everywhere. Making a mess has never been so much fun.

Great work :)

Good find, thanks I had it ordered from shopto.net for 32.99 this is much better.

Played the demo on my 360 and while it may not be that deep, it seemed really good fun. Kinda itching to get back to it. If the demo keeps me interested for next few goes I may well buy it ;-)
#8
Yeah I agree the demo was quite fun. The bullet time thing feels too Max Payne like, but at this price its worth a go :)
#9
Good spot, can't lose at that price.
If you get bored you should get £25 back off ebay after completing it?
#10
Top marks OP! Played the demo, was a bit underwhemed TBH, so was waiting for the inevetable price drop. Takes about 10 hours to finish apparently, so at this price I should be able to sell it on straight after a couple of nights, without loosing much money

Heat and rep added :)

Many times. They're a damn fine company. Better delivery times than Play and similar retailers in my experience.

Yes, used them a few times too. :)

That's not wrong - you'll be lucky to get it within a week of release.
#17
It is a great price, i mean you have to think to yourself if you're that desperate to get the game and pay a few extra quid or if you want to order from PPD and wait a while longer in order to get the best possible prices. :)

Since everyone loves bargains on here, i'm sure the majority will prefere to wait but i was very impressed with the demo, which is available on xbox live now and personally can't wait.

I'm sure other places will reduce the price when the launch date approaches anyway, probably not as cheap as this though but you never know.
#18
my quidco has already been tracked at £1.37.

makes the total cost £26.06 for a new release 360 game!

:D superb!

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your order for Stranglehold on the Xbox 360. We have recently discovered our initial order of this item is (due to an administrative error) the US version, which of course we are unable to sell and is incompatible with European Xbox 360 systems.
While we are endeavoring to obtain stock for the release date, we regret we have had to cancel your order.

Yup same.

Gutted.

I did mention that PPD isn't a very good company due to pre-order delivery times and customer service and this cancellation of an American game to save money proves it even more.
#28
Pathetic.. not impressed by that at all!
Wish I hadn't bothered signing up to the site now.. won't use them again.

Thanks for the spot tho!
#29
:( stupid site! ;)

Ar5e!

Got the same email. First problem I've ever had with PP direct. I emailed them to let them know I'd be placing an order at Game instead. Would have gone to shopto as a first port of call but...

£37.99
- £5.00 Fanta discount code
- 11% Quidco Discount (£3.63)

Total: £29.36 + 660 reward points towards next purchase.

None too shabby

This is one of them game you will be able to pick up cheap after a weeks of release. Bioshock is going to leave this game for dead.

Let me know when Stranglehold drops below £20
#32
Yep - Same here. Bad excuse for a mis-price.

Emailed telling them to cancel my other pre-orders and i'll order from a more reliable company.
