I thought i had posted in this thread and had forgotten for a moment there.

For me this is useless, if i am within 10 miles of home, i know people who can tow me home, both at uni and at parents. I didn't realise i had the same package with Green Flag, until i needed it 12 miles from home!

What i need it for is when i travel all over the country, we do a lotr of camping, up to Blackpool at Whit, Devon Summer holiday and Bridlington at August Bank Holiday, not to mention travelling to Liverpool and back to see parents and family.

Thought you just had to be more than quarter of a mile from home?

Rpoints may match that amount if you're with them.

It is over quarter of a mile from home and anywere in the UK.

The 10miles means they will tow you from wherever you breakdown within the UK to any garage within a 10 mile radius or home if it is within 10 miles

Always get my RAC joint cover via Tesco clubcard deals, but love the idea of a profit!

no good for me as my pc blocks http://ad.uk.doubleclick.net/clk%3B50925267%3B14361574%3Bk even with my firewall off.

I do like the Shop on the High Street and Earn Cashback though.

Yup, that's the problem, i don't want towing to a a garage, i will always want towing home, i did used to work part time as a mechanic during my college years, so i can have a little tinkle, at home in my garage, before i give up and take it to a a garage, don't want to take it to a garage.

Imagine their faces, a car comes in that doesn't run, miles away from home and they need it fixed, they can charge whatever they want, knowing you're pretty much stuck.

So in conclusion, i want my breakdown cover to have full home recovery, to be repaired on my terms

Good old Rpoint price match anyone else with the exception of new sites so not sure about wepromiseto anyone know?
#16
As a self employed sales person selling RAC I can assure you that should you cancel you won't be able to re-join before 3 months have passed - pants I know!

I can give the following discounts, Buy one, get one free or 20 % off. PLUS the standard 10% discount if you don't use them within 12 months - remember the 10% off will be off the standard price!

Basically, go see the RAC man at your local store or shopping centre you get the same deals and you help someone make a living.

The first year is cheap then the second year it goes up, i had this out with the sales guy on the phone the other night asking whay its now cheaper for new customers than excisting customers, i was told that i was better off staying as i was because i get a 10% discount every year aslong as i dont make more hat 3 callouts, i then said put me through to somebody to cancel my contract, they then offered me a exra 3 months rac for no extra, to which i took.
im on solutions 1 watch which one you have, read the small print..
#18
For rejoining the RAC or the AA, phone up and complain about their renewal price. They may reduce it for you, if they don't then quit and join the other. Next year you can do it the other way round.

Does that give the best price though?

I got quite lucky because last year I joined in March and there were the current offers on separately:
- free joint membership
- 15 months for the price of 12 online.

Also, they had started to change their membership from Roadside Relay etc to Solutions 1,2,3 etc. This was much more expensive - they through in a few things including no claims discount but the price is higher.

Now I negotiated over the phone 15 months plus joint cover for £94. I had to choose standard cover (roadside, relay, at home) rather than a solutions product, but I thought it was a good deal.

Now its come up for renewal and will cost £111 for 12 months joint membership.

I am unsure what to do. Solutions 3 joint cover on the internet is £130.

i've noticed when you click the affiliate link the company "wepromiseto.co.uk" have not put in their affiliate ID

The link goes to the following: http://www.rac.co.uk/web/breakdowncover/uk/?source=R723&source=affiliate&entry="name_of_aff"

i think where it says "name_of_aff" is where they were supposed to put their affiliate name.

Slightly worried that cashback wont work be picked up for this.

Anyone had any problems?

Has anyone acually got their cash back from joining the RAC via the link on wepromise as I havent yet ........

How long did it take ?
#28
I'm with these. This quote is for 2 people for a 2004 car.

Rescuemycar.com - £42 - Platinum Cover (Home start, tow to home etc.. inc caravan cover as well.. upto 6 callouts per year, free legal protection - NO Excess on callouts...) No quidco but it's cheap anyway - average call out time 36-40 mins..
#29
just checked wepromiseto and on the homepage it is stating £21 cashback and not the £35 as mentioned here.
#30
If you are signed up it clearly states £35 on the homepage

http://www.wepromiseto.co.uk/homepage

I have tried it - well worth it with a trip down to Devon coming up.

My experience is the total opposite. I had cover last year, the renewal came to more than a new customer, told them to stuff it then the following week signed up with exactly the same details online (maybe different credit card) and I got Quidco's £21 within 3 months and am enjoying my solution 1 cover for the princely sum of £12 :-D

I have been with the RAC for 3 years and cancelled and signed up as a new customer each year. Though I think I used Quidco the first time, then Tesco Clubcard deals, then quidco again so don't know if Tesco clubcard deals is a way around it? Still, if this is now the case, then just use Greenflag and quidco to get roadside recovery for as little as £5.

i have been a member for 15 years and had a renewel quote for £44.
phoned to cancel - gave reason as it cost too much (compared to £33 online - rac £29)
they matched the £33 price + gave me 14 months cover.
RESULT.
#36
Cashbackkings has price matched wepromiseto by offering £35 so for those of you who are weary of wpt then use cbk one of the best cashback sites around
#37
Went for the basic deal on Monday via quidco but still hasn't tracked yet. Should I cancel and re apply or not?
#38
I was another one that took out the 15 month offer last year, again my renewal is £111 for the two of us.
I have called them and they won't play ball so i've asked them to cancel and will go via CBK (HCP).
I've got a new credit card to pay with anyway.
#39
As much as I like saving money, I am staying clear of RAC, they let me down badly, 3 years ago I was left stranded on the motorway for over 2 hours with 2 very small children in the car.

No doubt we can all tell horror stories about all the other rescue services. Therefore for that reason alone I am voting this cold.
