Good find but is roadside assistance only.

This is differenr but better http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/

Quote from MSE website:

Top is AutoAid, a UK-only pay and claim service. This is a little known subsidiary of large insurer Boncaster, which also runs the AutoNational breakdown recovery service.

The price is stunning. For £32 a year, it insures the person not the car, meaning vehicle age, mileage and reliability are irrelevant, plus caravans & trailers are included. It also includes free cover for a spouse (must be married not just cohabiting) or in a civil partnership with a certificate.

While most budget policies only fix the car at the roadside or tow it to a garage, AutoAid provides transport for up to 6 people to the required destination, plus home start cover up to a limit of £45. However, like most policies, it only pays for labour and recovery, not parts.

Its stated average call out time is 40 minutes (roughly on a par with others) and it promises to pay back the cash you lay out within 14 days. AutoAid was my recommendation last year too and many MoneySavers who took it out have reported good feedback.

I agree with Sparky Autoaid offers a good deal and those that I know who have had to make a call out speak well of the service they have received, been lucky myself so far and haven't had to use them.

Many people seem to be put off by the claim process that they use but this is easily compensated by the price, the fact that they cover the person not the car and both husband and wife are covered (this is probably the only downside as I think they only recognise married couples)

They don't advertise themselves very much so I have a link on my website that describes what they offer.

Anyone who took out a prudential car insurance policy per that massive thread a while back (they offer £100 cashback thru QuidCo)... roadside assistance comes as part of this policy.
#10
Can't beat the RAC as far as I'm concerned - the response has always been very quick for me - sadly I've needed them 3 times this year with major stuff, once with a dead timing chain which entailed a tow to my house and then a tow to a garage a week later. They're brilliant and so it makes me reluctant to move to one who might not be as good, even if they are cheaper.
#11
Really tried & tried to pick holes in the AutoAid deal & couldn't. If it lives up to it's promises then I'm chuffed to bits with this. Thanks to marko4ever24 & to sparky for highlighting these deals:thumbsup: ...rep's given to both.:)

I think that was just an example link. If you read the original post it says to go through Quidco to the RAC site then replace the last word on the address bar from 'myoffers' to 'omgaff' then refresh your browser

Whats the rules on taking this up if you've been a member of the RAC before? My husband was a member with me as an additional - can we take up this offer in my name then? Or is it for new members only?

Thinking about it - I'm on his policy in my maiden name...so that could work.

Plus, it says on their website that if you are currently broken down, you can call them and join right away - in this case, special offers aside, isn't it best not to join until you actually need them or do you think they'd let you take out the most basic cover and then pay to increase it ie. to home or recovery depending on your situation?
#22
Thanks for the info on this OP - going to be doing a bit of driving over the Easter hols and hadn't had any breakdown cover for a while. This is just the ticket:)

The RAC offer is still available for Roadside Assistance Joint Cover £29.99 and excellent price if it's all you need!

sure is with £20 cashback too!!
#29
THANKS , I was looking for cheap cover - went for standard cover at 80 quid and quidco has tracked at 20 quid. It is over half price compared to their general web pages
#30
I have to say autoaid is excellent, and far cheaper. The only thing not covered is a puncture on your caravan, and you don't always have to claim back, as I found out when my car was fixed at the roadside and I didn't have to pay.

Thanks very much

Got my joint cover for £39.99 plus went through Quidco for my £20 & it has been validated already. :-D

Great find.
#32

Any help appreciated
#33
#34
when I hit the refresh button it is just refreshing the page that quidco links in to and not the adjusted web address?
#35
if I change the web address and click go it takes me to the page but not when I hit refresh is this the same?

#36
I can only find rac car insurance on my quidco?
#37
A little trick to remember also..
You can get free homestart if you register your details from a friends/family address. So all correspondence goes there, and and far as they are concerned you live there also. So if you breakdown outside your actual house, you can say you were visiting...
Have been doing this for years - never fails
