Jon Chappell, former editor-in-chief of 'Guitar Magazine' and sideman for Pat Benatar and Graham Nash, presents this instructional video that presents an easy and fulfilling method for learning to play the guitar. Using a step-by-step method that does not require the viewer to read music, Jon begins by showing how play in tune and in rhythm and moves on to teach how to form chords, fingerpick and strum in different patterns. Lastly, Jon demonstrates how to apply these techniques in actual songs, leading the viewer as he plays a number of popular favourites.

I have this DVD. It is pretty good. Its a bit easier to follow than the equivalent book, obviously just because you can actually watch and listen to the guy rather than have to read their description of what to do

I've got this - its good but I still cant play the guitar - I dont think I'm cut out for it.

Keep at it Andy it will come , I still consider myself a beginner after 2 years but I can bash out heaps of songs now . I remember when i had to do my first barre chords , I just used to avoid songs using them but your fingers become stronger the more you do them .

Lefties ALWAYS get left out! :x

i know what you mean! im a left-hooker but decided to learn right handed, its easier
#15
Me a leftie, but I reckon all the right-handers play a left-handed guitar, after all it's the left hand that does all the traveling up and down the neck.

Heres a really easy song I learnt in minutes this afternoon , nothing is better for a beginner than playing something even half badly that others can recognise .
