excellent price for a decent length cable and including delivery.

please no one believe all the hype around HDMI cables, its a digital signal that it carries and makes no difference at all to the sound and picture quality displayed, tese are determined by the quality of the lcd at one end and whatever you have at the other end of the cable, its not like buying a good scart or coax cable where the signal is subject to interference as its analouge, digital signals dont have the same problems, this is a good price for an hdmi cable, but i wouldnt pay anymore than that for one,the likes of currys and comet that try and sell you a 50 quid cable are a joke

2m Plexus cable from ebuyer at £2.99 here:

"Our range of HDMI cables are 100% compatible with all Hi-Definition Standards (720p,1080i & 1080p) They are also HDCP Compatible (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) - the content scrambling standard used in all current TV/Satellite and Cable boxes/DVD/Projectors etc.

It's not really hype as there are cables designed to meet different specifications, e.g. HDMI 1.0, HDMI 1.3 etc.

A cheap poundshop cable won't be made with the same diligence as one from a 'name' manufacturer. The material quality won't be as high and it's mechanical properties will be of a lower standard.

Take a look at this and you'll see it's not as simple as ON/OFF where digital communication is concerned.

You can still get interference with digital signals, they are still electrical signals sent through copper wire, same as any analogue signal. I would only bother with more expensive cables if you need a really long one (>10m) or have lots of EM interference near your TV!
#7
Correct there are different cable standards, mainly relating to the length that the signal can go unboosted (yes digital signals need this too). However always aim for the latest spec, i.e. 1.3 which allows for fullHD (1080P) transmission. However for EVERYONE any cable <10m is pretty much made equal, and will do exactly the same job and there is no tangible difference to the picture or audio experienced no matter how cheap or expensive the set up.

YES there is a list of authentic HDMI cables, at hdmi.org as there are indeed fakes around, however for cables this short at this price it really doesn't matter as they won't impact on the enjoyment of the film. If you want to spend more do your own research and buy what you wish. But for £4 it is a good buy for 1.5m, although depending on your set up you may need a slightly longer cable! (Joytech I do believe are listed as one of the approved manufacturers by the way)
#8
Voted cold as you can get a longer cable for less at ebuyer which is also HDMI 1.3
#9
yeah its hott for hmv
#10
Just watch that length - 1.5m may sound a lot but when you factor in wanting to pull an item out of a rack to connect it, and route the cable up maybe the back of a central stand those cm's soon get used up. Otherwise excellent deal for a shipped item!

I think you forgot to mention the £7.23 delivery charge, making the total price £10.22 not £2.99. HMV price of £3.99 is still a good value if someone is looking for just a HDMI cable.

You're wrong there mate.I bought one from them 2 weeks ago.Select Royal Mail delivery and they are £2.99.Whichever deal you go for, both of these are very good prices for a HDMI lead.

For everyone saying that the ebuyer one is cheaper, I went to order one of them cables from ebuyer the other month (cheapest delivery they had) and the delivery charge was around £8 for where I live (Northern Ireland), this cable was being sold on amazon for £29:99 and is better quality than the one you get on ebuyer and its also cheaper if you include the delivery on ebuyer.

So you get free delivery and they expect people like me to pay over the odds for my shipping. I noticed this before when they tried to charge me £8 to deliver a fan filter that weighed less than a piece of paper and said to myself that I would never order anything from ebuyer.

Would it have been a good cable if I paid £29:99 for the exact same cable from amazon?

I have both expensive and cheap HDMI cables (all 1.3a or above) and there is no difference at all in the picture or sound quality when watching HDDVD's or Blu Rays through my amp.
#36
Copper wire sheathed in plastic, connected at each end.Tried a few hdmi cables. There is absolutely no difference between the ebuyer plexus cable in quality carrying 1080p+ audio and my mates overpriced though aesthetically pleasing monster hdmi cable. It is a case of does it work or does it not.

Agree with Wodja.I have tested the £2.99 Plexus cable on a 32'' Sony LCD TV (not a cheap budget model) using my mates PS3.He has bought a very expensive cable (think it was called a Monster ?).If there was a difference I certainly could not see it.Tried it also using my Oppo 981HD 1080P upscaling DVD player and again it worked every bit as well the expensive cable that came bundled with the player.I can't comment on larger screen TV's like big plasma's,maybe there is a difference ?.But if the £2.99 ebuyer lead was useless I would warn everyone on here not to buy it,but its surprising good both in terms of its build quality and in its performance .
#38
Voted warm. For 97% of the UK, the 2m Ebuyer lead is cheaper, but this deal still looks decent.
#39
great find! heat added, i bought one for a bit more than that only a few days ago!! + this is gold plated so no interference! no oxidation of the plate etc causing distortion in the picture,
side note :- btw guys check this site out - its what's called the real news and not brainwashing as done by skynews!!
