this has mixed reviews but i could do with a switch/router to share my xbox/xbox360/pc instead of unplugging and plugging in cables, and i can use component for both xboxes instead of vga on the xbox360 for playing hd-dvds (if there's no loss of PQ). i wonder if they have them in my local store

Had major problems running Wii through it - everything else was ok but Wii pic was distorted - for that reason (and I voted it hot last time at £25) gonna have to vote it cold as its a poor piece of kit - since read multiple reviews of people also having problems with the Wii...

Its made primary for the Xbox 360. the Wii signal is stronger than the 360 and the unit does not except that signal by default. HOWEVER The FREE adaptor from Joytech fixes the Wii connection Problem. See www.joytech.net

How decent is it at just routing optical sound? I have one of those god awful circular manual switches and my xbox feeds through it fine but the PS3 doesn't like an indirect optical feed. Only have one input on amp until I can get a new one and that's way more than £10 or even £17.99.

Fine mate. That's what I got mine for. I even find the switch (hub) on the back of it is fine for the PS3 and 360.

All I wanted mine for was the network and the optical side of things. Means I could move the little Netgear out of the way and clear some room up!

Not noticed any sound problems, or network problems!

I bought mine for exactly this reason after buying a manual switch like yours but never using it. I also didn't fancy forking out for an amp with multiple optical inputs (Onkyo was favourite but a bit of a fiscal stretch) so I put this unit infront of my amp and it does a great job of switching my 360's, satelllite's and media player''s optical outputs - there is no issues with the quality or the ease of switching.

It's also nice to have a hub local to the stack under my TV instead of having multiple leads running into my router (xbox, satelitte and media player), as I have a glass stand the reduction in spagetti trailing down the back is welcome.

I paid £25 for mine in the previous deal and I would urge everyone to pick on up for a tenner, even if you don't have a use for it now it is bound to have a use at some point in your life. Of course the only downside is the lack of HDMI but that's why it's a tenner instead of £90, if you have the ability to rig everything through the component connection then your laughing as there is no difference in quality.

Sounds like you did the same as me and found the other stuff a bonus. I suppose for a tenner it is worth it even if you only want it for a hub!

Has anyone else seen this in other HMVs?

I have tried and failed (twice) to get the free wii adapter...Joytech customer service useless...great piece of kit otherwise..voted hot.
