This is a follow-up email for the conversation we had on Amazon.co.uk Chat.
Further to your query regarding the Pre order code of the "Dirt Showdown (PS3)", I've received an update from the Product Group.
It had been updated to contact Codemasters who will be able to resolve any issues faster directly.

I also had to contact the manufacturer of a George Foreman grill (purchased from Amazon at the end of March this year) directly to request a like-for-like exchange a couple of weeks ago.
Has Amazon's Customer Service has gone downhill for anybody else?

Thanks for your reply.
I spotted the "returns period" when I placed a customer service call about the grill.
I tried to tell them that I was aware of that period, but my contract was with them &, quoting from the manufacturer's user manual, it advised me to check the fuse in the plug, & then seek an exchange from the retailer.
However, English seemed to be a problem for the person I spoke to (due to the location of the call centre).
Last week, though, I was within well within the 28 day period as I rang on the day I received the two games (both the same, "DiRT Showdown").
The person on the telephone initially tried to tell me that there was no such offer but backed-down when I said I had saved the product page from their web site, the offer was a pre-order incentive & so it was no longer displayed, & the fact that I had ordered from Amazon because they had that offer advertised.
As I said (above), it has taken almost a week for them to ask me to contact the manufacturer & resolve this myself.
I am considering just sending the two games back for a refund.
If for any reason you are unhappy with a PC or video game purchased from Amazon.co.uk, you can return it to us in its original condition within 30 days of the date you received it, unopened (with any seals and shrink wrap intact) and we will issue a full refund for the price you paid for the game. We reserve the right to refuse returns or to charge you our fees and expenses if the product is received otherwise than in accordance with these requirements.

Thanks fawcett but, as I mentioned above, the codes were supposed to be inside the boxes of both items I bought so I had to break the seals in order to learn they were absent.
It isn't a huge problem to contact Codemasters; I'm just annoyed that I have to, rather than Amazon (being the retailer) doing this on my behalf as it is their responsibility to rectify the fault.
However, if Codemasters cannot, or will not, help me, then Amazon will be getting the games back in an unsealed condition or I will expect some form of partial refund.

I was. The pre-rendered video trailers & live action marketing made it look good.
The game-play footage not as much.
Sort of like HOTD:Overkill style OTT silliness, but action/adventure gameplay?

I hope I am proven wrong, but it is not on my pre-order "wish list" any more.
