Please avoid kits like these, they are poorly made and not suitable with coping with the size of fish found in 90% of british fisheries. This often results in the fish snapping the line, which can in turn lead to the fish becoming teathered and ultimatly dying.

Totally disagree!

Any responsible fisherman taking his / her young son or daughter for a dabble would no doubt be in charge of knots line floats etc...(at such a novice level like this), and so no doubt would check the suitability of the 20 meters of spring coiled nylon provided and size 12 barbed hooks....?!!?

I would guess the terminal tackle would be replaced by the 'daddy' of the trip, and therefore would be suitable for use on light rivers, canals, ponds and supervised fishing etc

Obviousley, you wouldn't attempt to use with a controller or hair rig set up!

Fish for what you want to catch - enjoy!

I agree with you Grimme, we took these sea fishing, and with supervision my kids age 4 and 3 managed to catch a couple of good sized mackarel with no bother at all.
Sets like these give the kiddies a great experience, and if they like it then they can go for a better quality rod, if they dont like it then its ok to be stuck in the garage and never used again!!
