Apologies for length ;)

I have an Honor 7 and this looks to be a 'lite' version. Honor build quality is great, and I expect general performance, battery life and camera will be very good.

Quite a lot of people moan about the Android experience on the Honor phones as the lack of an 'app drawer' means all apps go on the home screen and you need to file them sensibly in folders - much like on an Apple phone. Otherwise it is very simple to install something like Google Now Launcher for a more generic Android experience.

You can get better specifications for less money by buying direct from China, but the Honor 5C will work on all UK networks, be supported better with warranty, and ultimately deliver a peace of mind that makes it a much more sensible choice for most people. I say this as someone who bought a Redmi 3 Pro for my missus.

Hot. Much more so than a Smart Ultra 6 or Moto G.

whats this compared to the honor 5x?
#2
no fingerprint?
#3
Doesn't look like it. I'm a bit gutted tbh. Thought an honor 7 refresh was incoming. This is very similar to the 5x in price and spec.
#4
Honor 7 refresh probably coming in October September that will be a year since the honor 7 will have been out. The 650 is a really good chipset this beats the moto g in my opinion. If this had a fingerprint scanner and nfc it may have been a very good overall handset.

It has NFC. Yeah the chip and battery look decent. A good phone for the price and build quality.

I have liked the honor phone that I've tried, although I didn't think the 7 was as good as the 6...
#7
way better than the moto g which doesn't have a fingerprint sensor or nfc either but this is better built and a lot faster

Oh, had a play with one earlier, its definitely slicker than the 5x. Though that could be in part due to it having had onky the stock apps installed.
#12
Can get better for that price/cost ratio. Cold.

No SD expansion?

I can see in the specification that the Honor is Dual SIM (nano) but no mention of micro SD. Does it have one and if it does can it be used at the same time as having 2 SIMs in? I had a feeling I've looked at Honors before and they don't allow this.

EDIT : Answered my own question from here http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/honor-5c-1323644/review

"On the left of the Honor 5C a tray holds your nanoSIM card and either a second SIM or a microSD card (up to 128GB), allowing you to expand on the 16GB of internal space." So it's a fail for my requirements. Moto X Play dual SIM or Moto G4/Plus for me I think.

The Moto G4 Plus has a fingerprint sensor

but the g4 plus costs £250 which puts it in a different league

I thought I had read the G Plus would be £199 when released on Amazon... may be mistaken. Surprised Amazon are not selling it yet though. The G Plus comes with a fast charger which retails at £25 with Motorola

They are selling its just got a 2-3 week wait time https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorola-Moto-Plus-SIM-Free-Smartphone-Black/dp/B01GZZK95O/ref=pd_sim_sbs_107_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41FOg4n--PL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=J2F1EZZF0HY1SGT4ZC5H

Good stuff. That makes it much more competitive. Fast charger and dual sim with micro SD, finger print recognition above the Honor could justify the extra £50. Also 5% off with student Prime.

Bear in mind £200 vs £150 is a massive proportional difference though.

And guaranteed updates to the stock Android UI for the next two years. The 3GB/64GB G4 Plus model is really something else, waiting for prices to come down over the next months.

don't forget that using unidays you can 15% off Motorola directly.

It does not have NFC. There is no mention of it under technical specifications on the website
#26
No Gorilla Glass sadly and like Honor 5X it might have no oleophobic coating on the screen either so it smudges like crazy
#27
Looks a bit cheap & plasticky
#28
Honor.... Could be a great phone maker,

I will keep waiting for the Axon7.
#32
Had the Honor 6 H60-L04 for nearly couple of years and it's been fine. I'm confused with their numbering system would 5C be an upgrade or downgrade?
#33
Honor 5x is very good, I was highly impressed with it. This should be good at this price point. :D
#34
This is a definite upgrade on the Honor 6.

Anyone got anything to say about Kirin chipsets, are they any good? I'm about to buy a Huawei phone with a Kirin 935 and just wanted to know if there are any app incompatibilities, issues, benefits etc?

Also how is their Emotion UI OS?

I don't like emotion but easily solved with Google or Nova launcher (50p at the minute). No problem with the Kirin compatibility wise. My Honor 7 is very snappy. Not up there with Qualcomm GPU wise I believe but I don't play any graphically demanding games.

Yes, it does have NFC. I was at the actual launch event, it was specifically mentioned.

I would rather believe the specifications given by the company and not 'anyone saying anything' on Youtube.

Several sites are quoting NFC, including TechRadar.

N.B. I hate TechRadar but just using one of their articles to reassure that it has NFC.
