This is my first post so go easy on me. I was looking at this laptop when it was £599 from Tesco stores and Tesco direct. At the time I could get it cheaper online by other companies, but now by slicing £100 off the price this is the cheapest by about £50. use Quidco and I believe you get another 3% off
This has to be a bargain for a 17" laptop despite only being single core.

In addition - Tesco are currently offering triple points so this is worth 1497 points or another £14.97

I haven't voted cold, but this isn't really a very good deal at all. The Turion MK-36 is just a glorified Sempron 3500+ with slightly higher clock speed and higher power consumption. Not good.

agree with poppy..all it's got going for it is a 17 inch screen...so if that's your priory and you have a max £500 budget then itmay be a consideration.

I hear what you are saying about the turion processor, but my main reason for wanting this was the 17 inch screen and I still dont feel you will get a laptop "new" with a 17 inch screen 1GB ram 120GB hard drive for under £500. The processor may not be the quickest but it certainly isn't the worst processor out there..is it?
For those who are looking for a mid range laptop and a 17 inch screen this surely must fit the bill...and then some.

With quidco and the £14.97 worth of clubcard points this comes in at just under £475.

If some of you think this is not a good deal you could buy it at pc world at £699 . i will get my club card at tesco tomorrow then buy one its a good all rounder for home

This MSI L730 looks to be a better deal:
Was £599 now £499
Postage £9.95 compared to £4.95 for the Tesco deal.

But you get a Turion 64 X2 TL-52, which will perform much better and consume less battery power than the Tesco MK36. You still get a 17" screen 1G RAM, and GeForce 6100 graphics, and the hard drive is only slightly smaller at 100GB - more than made up for by the much better processor and the included TV Tuner and Bluetooth.

Whether it is better depends upon what you want. Does theMSI have
a TV tuner (must be missing something somewhere) & it is Windows XP rather than Vista ( up to you whether this is good or bad). Acer also has a blindingly cheap - for a laptop - 3 year extension warranty which is good for peace of mind at £50

I don't know what MSI offer.

Word Of WARNING: ACER customer support is terrible, its not worth £50 for an extended warranty with them, my one month old laptop had to be sent back to them (their repair centre is called esplex - do a google search - loads of horror stories on the net!). I had to wait 5 weeks for my laptop to be sent back to me un-repaired! Acer are so rude on the phone! I have now got a HP Pavilion dv6231, and its great!
