Very good deal, QVC are also on quidco which more than covers the postage

Just ordered one of these through QuidCo and dropped QVC a note as the JVC Web Site & Amazon.co.uk are saying the expiry date for the £50 Cashback & 5 Year Warranty which is a massive selling point is 15th August and not September as QVC Claim.

Having said that delivery is by Royal Mail Special Delivery so should hopefully have Tuesday/Wednesday at the latest and the 15th is next Saturday so should just make it but beware.

When you're shopping for an inexpensive, high definition camcorder, it usually comes down to making some sacrifices. With the JVC GZ-HD300, there are plenty of those: poor sensitivity in low light, mediocre noise levels, disappointing still photography, only the finicky Laser Touch controls for manual image adjustment, and no sign of a viewfinder, accessory shoe, or headphone/microphone jacks. What you gain with the HD300, however, might be far more important to this product's target demographic; the HD300 is incredibly small and compact, has excellent bright light color accuracy, is blessed with simple menus and control interfaces, and sports both a 60GB internal hard drive and an affordable price tag. If that sort of trade-off seems like it's right up your alley, then the JVC GZ-HD300 might be just the camcorder for you.

I bought a JVC GZ-HD30 from PC World for £280 on Friday even though I knew this deal was due on Sunday although I didn’t know the price. I read reviews and the HD30 appealed to me because it has better low light performance, better manual control, microphone & headphone sockets, supports AVCHD & MPEG-2 HD (HDV compatible as well as 1080P).
For those with an older computer MPEG-2 HD is a lot less demanding to edit and it generally has better quality than AVCHD although the gap has narrowed a lot since the latter was introduced. You can edit MPEG-2 HD with a single core whereas AVHCD really needs dual core.

It’s a discontinued item at PCW so it will likely be very hard to get one but worth phoning.
CamcorderInfo reviewed the HD40 which is the same except that it has a 120GB HDD versus 80GB and comes with a docking station. I felt it was the best quality HD camcorder I could find under £300 that has reasonable manual control and audio I/O and the fact that it supports HDV is a bonus.

If we can help with anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

QuidCo just tracked at £17.50

So for £288.87 with a 5 Year Warranty, including delivery (Royal Mail Special Delivery) to include £50 Cashback & QuidCo it's a bit of a bargain IMHO

hot from me... was just about to post this one myself, this is what you get for sleeping all day :)

Might be an idea to put the price in the title as a lot of people, like myself view the forum in text only view

Thanks for posting that Steve. I am more concerned about JVC's website, than Amazon's website, saying that the redemption has to be by 15th August. I am in two minds, but thanks anyway.

Good point. I was personally comparing it to a JVC HD30 which I bought last week for £280 but with only a 1 year warranty. It has better reviews than the HD300 and more features although the HD300 has some advantages not just ones that are so important to me.
At this price I think it’s very hot.

Received mine today, came with a JVC Cash Back leaflet which states valid from 22/05/09 and ends 15/08/09. However there is a white paper Addendum stating date should read 15/09/09 for online registration with doc's to arrive at JVC UK by 30/09/09.
