Just remember some of these increase air flow into your car and thus also help to burn more fuel.

yup, depends what type of filter/intake and what car.

Not much of a drop in fuel economy, mine still gets about 35/40mpg with one of these on with carbs.

Wouldnt reccomend it for your nissan micra or something.

Why not micras? do you mean increased airflow ok with carbs but not fuel inj?
If you fit cone type filters & a big exhaust dont you have to rejet the carb/s like i did on bikes yrs ago?
:whistling:
Has it been proved that a 'drop in' replacement filter can actually improve performance/affect economy?
Apologies to OP for going off-topic,great deal, but store specific?

Yes it has been proved that it improves bhp and dependent on the engine, effect economy. Its pretty much what every modification that improves power does (more air and fuel)

Have not had to rejet my carbs, or my other twin 45's. (may be different for others)

Increased airflow is fine with fuel injection but to get the full benefits you may have to get it remapped. However its fine without getting it remapped.

Youve not gone off topic :p

Chavtastic?

Hardly.

Maybe the ones from argos or some where like that.

you can/'t get much better than k&n for quality, but remember a lot of induction kits can have a negative effect due to them drawing air in from the engine bay which is hot and so not as dense as cold air from outside the car, sometimes a k&n replacement filter is the way to go with the standard airbox.

voted hot on the price which is what this is all about

True, this is why ive got a cold air feed for when its needed.

Plus many of them can be cleaned.
