I think (but not sure) that the AOL antivirus thingy that you can get for FREE (don't need to be with AOL) is just a rebadged version of this - might be worth checking it out before you spend a tenner.

Personally I'd recomend AVG - it's completely free and has always worked perfectly for me

I'm currently using the AOL free download. This is based on the Kaspersky engine BUT it does not include the Anti-Spyware monitoring of the full product, only anti-virus.

So this may be worthe extra.

If you only want to install it on one PC then you can get the full Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 6.0 in OEM form (ie just the install cd) for a paltry £8.97!!

This is the anitivirus product mentioned in the post PLUS firewall

I find Avast a better tool - than AVG, or any other for that matter - but I have heard very good reports of Kaspersky.

It's v5 of Kaspersky I believe that comes with AOL.

This is a good deal, only £10 and three user licenses.

I personally use AVG which is ok. Average on resources, a bit annoying when booting up with the popups, and from what I've read does above average in detection tests. But...it's completely free. I only use XP occassionally though (as I'm a Linux user) hence picking AVG.

Kaspersky may suit some people. I've used v6 before, it's very good, definitely better than AVG (but some people will feel they don't need that). Not including Nod32 it'd be favoured choice of av, and for £10 you can't complain.

and NOD32 wipes it aol with these antivirus/firewall packages-not free though but it does not hog resources and apparently has the best track record for detecting virus...been using it for 4 years now no problems........used Kaspersky for 1 year good product at this price 1 tip though when doing a scan turn volume down as it has a habit of emmiting a very loud screeching sound if it finds anything suspicious.....you have been warned:):)

TEL........At this price i still vote hot!!

6 months back I paid £24 for single user, last week paid £14.97 for 3 user.

This offer has got to be hot!

Like many I paid little attention to warnings about viruses, trojans, worms. etc. - then got hit by something that totally wrecked my old PC. Late in the day I did loads of web and magazine research - most sources put Kaspersky top or near top. I tried the time limited free version (see K web site), which found/cleaned loads of stuff on my old PC. The single user version has worked great on my lap top - will install K on my new PC when my free Macaf runs out.

Great product!

Instead of Macafee - just get a regular Mac.

No viruses ever.

Really this is a great price for a good product.

I am using AVG at the moment, but I do use this package a lot, and it's light years ahead of AVG.

Its very good at what it does.

This is an awesome product which includes anti virus and anti spyware and firewall in one easy to use highly rated suite. They have recently advertised that if you have this product they will upgrade it to there newest product (KIS2007) when it is released in September. I have used this for some time, and would always pay for this over AVG and Avast. For free antivirus go for the AOL AVS, but you will need antispyware and firewall on top.
Awesome deal voted HOT.

That's not an Anti-Virus app if that's what you're confusing it with. Vista's Firewall is completely separate. You should ideally run both a software firewall and AV application.

This is a good deal. If you don't want to fork out £10, google for AVG, there's a Free version.

Also the Vista firewall is much improved over the XP one. Last time (a while back) I looked there weren't many decent firewalls yet available for Vista. Some in beta stage, but using the standard Vista one seemed the best option.

They also have the internet secuirty suite for £25 for the 3 user license.

You can get all the antivirus software you will ever need for free. I use AVG antivirus and their spyware detector as well. Or try ad-aware 2007 spyware detector too. I have Zone alarm firewall on my desktop and use PC Tools firewall plus on my Vista laptop. Its all free and it will find anything that you need. Also consider putting your pc on a home network as the routers have in built firewalls. Use all of this and you will sleep soundly at night. And its all free!!!!!!!!!!

This special offer is for version 6. Version 7 has just been reviewed by PC Pro and came up as their number one anti virus solution. So V6 might be a bit old and could explain the price.

Having said that, I can't find V7 available from the Kaspersky site...but I have managed to download it elsewhere.

For the freebie category, Antivir beats AVG

Not saying anything, but already recently posted that very same deal....in that security suite thread...

Must pay more attention!

The product I was rambling on about is Kaspersky "Internet Security" , not Kaspersky "Antivirus".

Sorry!

Ad-Aware 2007 is a nightmare to remove (at least the beta version was). Had to hack through the registry. Will never install it again.

Have heard good reports about Spyware Terminator

We've been evaluating this at work against AVG Pro and ZoneAlarm Pro and it was far lighter in payload and the AV in particular is rated much better. There are better firewalls though if you're a more advanced user

On the cover DVD/CD of PC Advisor magazine for September (which comes out this month end) Kapersky Internet Suite v6.0 - Full Product is being given FREE.

In this months PC PRO magazine Kapersky won their lab test comparison test for the leading anti-virus packages. AVG also did very well. Norton did terrible and Microsoft's own One-Care live package was slated.

So save yourself a few quid and pick up a copy of PC Advisor (Issue 146 Sept 2007) and get Kapersky free.

Worth a look but it depends on how long the subscription (to download the definitions) is for - it's often only 6 months for the "free" OEM AV versions bundled with PCs, then you need to fork out a new year's-worth (£40 for KIN6, £24 for KAV6).
Returning customers can now renew their licenses at a 30% discount ... A returning customer is somebody who has a current 1-year license and would like to renew it.

Sprats to catch mackerel. ;-)

Bought a 5 Licence pack of KAV6 in November last year from Amazon for ~£75. Kaspersky is the best AV package that I have used to date.

I'm looking to move to the next version of KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security) instead of upgrading my KAV licences.

What's the difference between the Internet Suite and Antivirus versions etc. ?

I currently have McAfee Security Centre which deals with everything -I think...

Will the Internet Suite version of Kaspersky deal with everything too? Or will I need to get the separate firewall, anti-phishing, spamming etc. stuff?

I don't know much about any of this.
#35
I'm a little confused......
What's the difference between the KASPERSKY ANTI VIRUS 6 and the KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY 6, both seem to look for virus' and spyware??? The Amazon web says use both........

It's not hard to look on Kaspersky's site...
