Be warned, a lot of the licences for sale on Ebay will be pirate (cracked) ones...
i.e. they're illegal and you may not get support... or they're only valid in certain countries.
Not saying they're all like that, but you have to be careful.

Updated with further 30% off voucher - just £8.40/£12.64 - ridiculously cheap!

AVG = free of charge!

i use avg too, but if you're going to pay (and you do get functionality not included with avg free) this is the one to get.

I've tried AVG (paid for version) and Panda but found this one to be the best. Think I might go for the 2 year version for £19.21 with the code mentioned as I am really impressed with this software !
#9
AVG is great if you want some free software (or Avast!) - but personally I use Nod32 and there really is a massive difference I find, Nod32 is awesome, uses up no resources and sits in the background doing it's job brilliantly - I've not used Kaspersky myself but have heard brilliant things (as far as paid software goes, everyone seems to recommend Kaspersky or Nod - nothing else comes close) so definitely going to rate this one hot! Thanks

how much do you have to pay to renew it after a year as i preume it just stops working after 12 months, currently use free avg and zonealarm basic free so not sure i would see much benefit but voted hot for price

Don't really see whats up with AVG free and Zone Alarn. Never had a problem in 8 years.
#12
I've never had a problem with AVG either. Got that, CCleaner and Spybot. Job done!
#13
Just brought the 2 year version , if you have a free trail is it best to wait till end of trail or will it take the 30 day trail of your current paid subscription anyway.

As i just put in the key code and its taken my 30 days trail away should of waited till trail ended now :(

Quidco took me to the US site

I just installed the free 6 months licence of Kaspersky Antivirus, given away with 'Computer Shopper' this month. If I buy this deal now, would it add another 12 months to that or would the 12 months start now? It's a good bargain.
#15
I get 15.04 when it adds the VAT on top. Does anyone esle gets this?:?
#16
Ahh 6 months free ...never buy computer mags but worth buying if i had known you can get 6 months free.

Yup done this to me , add vat at the end on my 2 years , oh well still a good price...had this before and its the best in my view.
#18
be warned that i used the free version of AVG and it was only when i installed a trial of nod32 did i find id got three virus` it hadnt picked up.....but what do u expect for free.... personally i find kaspersky better than nod32 so this is highly recommended

OEM copies have always been available around the £12-13 mark for a yearly license for some time...

Scan have IS at £11.74 and AV at £7.04.

EDIT: Aria have AV on superspecial for £6.52 - http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Kaspersky+Anti+Virus+7.0+OEM+1yr?productId=28024

Possibly useful if you have other PC bits to buy and therefore get free delivery at Scan or fairly reasonable delivery with Aria.

Fab - thanks for the tip

Ordered via Quidco plus the discount

AVG is ok. A typical "good" performer. Can be a bit annoying though especially with the update popups.

If you want the best Kaspersky at £8 is an absolute bargain. I think someone mentioned quidco too.

The system with Kaspersky is you get a discount (25%?) when renewing the subscription if you've had a previous year of subscription, so the 6-month freebie is a bit of a loss-leader - renewal will be full price.

During the free trial, the time starts when you register the software with the supplied key so you lose out if you register before the trial is over; after that, if you renew a few days early, you get 1 year + those few days, but 1 year + 6 months may hit a bug. Nothing to stop you getting a copy and key and saving it for 6 months.

I use KAV, highly recommended. Paid £11.70 from Amazon in September for KAV6 and instantly free upgraded to KAV7.

Does this work only in 1 computer in my home? I have 3 computers that I wish to install this anti-virus software; would I need to purchase 3 copies?
banned#24
Been a Kaspersky user since 2004 and never looked back. I have tried out Nod32 and have found that it has overlooked a few things that Kaspersky picked up. AVG = poo.
#25
Heat and rep added.

Nothing wrong with AVG - Kaspersky scanner gives you too many false/positives!

If you really must use Kaspersky, you can use there online scanner for FREE

Make a note of any viruses then manually delete.
#27
My McAfee subscription is ending, and is more annoying than Norton (which is saying something). I think I'll give this a go.
#28
came up for thirty odd quid for me when i tried, zonelarm and wireless will do me years of ZA never had a problem although virus scan can be slow at times, autumn rating for me..
#29
Anyone know if I purchase the multi user version, could my relatives in the USA use it? Because from the e-store, it says UK/Ireland only.
#30
Kaspersky is a top notch anti virus but the firewall i found was overly complicated.
#31
i tried a 6 month free trial and HATED it, not the best at all if u use Limewire.
I uninstalled it after 2 weeks and returned to AVG and Zonealarm.
KEEP YOUR MONEY!
#32
I didnt like it either, ive been using Avast and Giant Antispyware for years and they seem to pick everything up
#33
i use avg and zone alarm, but having problems setting up a network (just desktop and laptop at home), think the free avg doesn't really support things like printer sharing over a network.

Anybody recommend another free antivirus (+firewall?)?

Edit: come to think of it, it may have been ZoneAlarm that was causing my network problems.....
#34
looks like the 180-day trial for KIS 7 has been pulled. But there is still a 60-day trial which you can go for on http://www.kaspersky-labs.co.uk/trials/reg/kis7/
In my experience, the activation code they send you after your initial 30 free days kickstarts another 60 days which makes 90 days free followed by the discounted purchase version in this thread - voted hot!
#35
AOL Anti-Virus used to be a free, rebadged version of Kaspersky, but annoyingly they've stopped making it now, and use McAfee instead - which is awful.
#36
Bitdefender much better - does a great job without any noticeable drag on computer. And in fact I thought it was so good I bought a few extra discs for v10. haven't used them all - so may now put an add in the FS sections...
#37
hot, bought 2 years for about £22

thanks!

To receive a fully functional personal antivirus software solution, just purchase the product in our online store. We'll send you a registration code that you can simply enter into your trial to make it a full version.

Activating Your Trial: After You Purchase
NOTE: If you downloaded your trial before May 15, 2006, we've launched version 6.0 of Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Also if you've downloaded a trial version of Kaspersky Personal Security Suite, this has been upgraded to Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0. Please uninstall the old program and install the new software and follow the registration process below. We are no longer supporting Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal 5.0 or Kaspersky Personal Security Suite.

After you've purchased the product you'll receive an email from Element 5 with links to the most up-to-date software and a new registration code. If you'd like to re-install the new software, please uninstall your older version first. If you are using the most current version of the software you will not need to re-install it. Just add the registration code by following the instructions below.

Open the Kaspersky Interface by double-clicking on the K in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen or by opening Kaspersky in your programs folder. Click on the "Service" Tab and select any text in "License Info".

Click the activate button.

Select "Activate using the Activation Code".

If you have more than two weeks left on a trial or currently licensed version of the product, you will see this screen. This is only to warn you that you still have some time left on your current license. If you want to install now, just click yes. Otherwise, be sure to save your registration code for when your current key runs out!

Now just enter the case-sensitive activation code with dashes into the screen along with your contact information. Your information will only be used to legalize your license and help you find your information in the future. Please enter valid information into this page and click "Next".

Your product should now be live! We recommend that you save the Software and Registration code on a writable CD for safe keeping.

Questions about installing registration codes after the trial? Write to the our Technical Support team.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus Business Optimal components are available through our eStore.

If you really must use Kaspersky, you can use their online scanner for FREE
The point of having AV installed is to stop trouble before it gets installed. Prevention is better than cure.

I have been a Kaspersky advocate for ages, however, I tried the six month trial of KIS 7 and had problems, made IE7 crash, Live toolbar had issues and kept crashing DrWatson, so uninstalled and after reading the forums went for the Avira Personal suite, www.avira.com (six month trial on a lot of the pc mag's) no conflicts highly rated and system seems quicker... includes antivirus, rootkit detection and antispyware etc. you can get a free anti virus version as well, you can back this up with on line scans (Kaspersky offer one themselves).
This is a good deal for Kaspersky if you get on with it, recommend try before you buy though!!
