Drive units Satellite / Centre Powered subwoofer Reflex ported 100 mm Closed box 250 mm (10 in.) (4 in.) Uni-Q array with 19 mm (3/4 in.) Charismatic is the only word to describe it. Like the multi award winning KHT 2005 from which it evolved, the new reflex ported KHT 2005.2 pushes the performance envelope of midrange home cinema theatre like no one other system. The spec tells part of the story: with parabolic enclosures computer optimised to eliminate cabinet distortions, the full range centre and satellites all feature KEF's new 100mm (4") Uni-Q array incorporating the 19mm (3/4") aluminium dome tweeter from the acclaimed Q series.

Ferrofluid cooled for better power handling and driven by twin neodymium magnets, HF reproduction is startling - even whispered dialogue is pin sharp. But the real magic lies in the way all the system components work together. The tonal match is perfect, and transitions are so smooth you simply can't hear them. Like all KHT series Subwoofers, the matching 250 watts PSW 2010 has a cinema setting for even more bass 'slam' with movie sound effects, and individual phase, frequency and level control allow you to fine tune the output to get the perfect balance with the satellite speakers and your room acoustics. An ingenious multi-directional base makes it easy to place each satellite wherever it suits you: on a flat surface, at an angle on walls, or on the optional floor stands.

It all adds up to a chic, superbly engineered system that delivers way beyond what you'd expect for the price. Available in Matt Black Finish.

I have these in silver and they sound fantastic. Had them for a couple of years and spent nearly £1000 on them.

The only minor down side was the centre speaker wasn't too great for vocals, so I upgraded it for one in the Q series range, but definitley a bargain
#5
posted this 3 months back i also orderd in silver and arrived within a week great speakers and still the best price around...............................

Yes you do. This is why the wife got fed up with my Kef setup... one silver box + one remote too many and a subwoofer that had to double as a coffee table. These are a great set but they don't disappear into your furnishings. For audiophiles who don't mind lots of boxes, wires and visible speakers.

What was she doing so far from the sink to notice?

Grow some stones mate. Kefs all round at this price.

these speakers seem a good deal will they plug in to mu sky plus and xbox 360 ok
#19
assaid above this needs and amp!
#20
Great set of speakers. I have these set up in home cinema room (converted integral garage)
#22

second hand display model - i would hope they are cheaper, even cheaperon fleabay!!
#23

May be cheaper but second hand as they are ex display ones so had peoples grubby mitts on them which is fine for most things but something as delicate as speakers can be, not so good especially as its only equivalent to 25% off, for ex display on something i'd be wanting nearer the 50% margin off.

Not without an amp. Go for the Logitech z-5500s from ebuyer. Not up there with the kefs but for TV and XBox firefights they're great value for money and far easier to set up.
#25
I've had these for 3 years now and they're still going strong. Obviusly there's better speakers out there but now theyre at this price everyone should get them. Voted hot.

to whoever asked: Yes, you need a separate AV receiver / Amp for these.
#26
These are fantastic speakers. Although I pretty much got a £200 discount on the RRP I still paid over £600 for a set of the silver ones when they were first launched. Looks like they've changed the design of the subwoofer as it used to be downwards firing.

I run mine with a Sony STR-DA1200ES receiver and a Denon 2900 DVD player for SACD and DVD-A :)

Mate - well done. That's an amazing price for a new set! I bought these a year ago for £450 from Sevenoaks. Can't be beaten for that price, am very very happy with them.
#28
are the speakers wired ? would this set be a good combo with a onkyo 605 ??? or is there a better speaker set up for around the same price ? since these are a couple of years old ?
#29
Great price. If this is the top end of your budget for speakers, want 5.1, have a decent TV & have a suitable amp stop asking questions & buy them.
#30
I have owned these for a few years and they are excellent!

BUY BUY BUY!!!
#31
Oh, and i paid £749 for them.
#32
Sure, I've never heard them or seen them in real life but just from looking at that picture.... what makes them worth 800 or even 400? Look like any standard speakers you can get. Thought for that price you would receive those massive tower speakers that stand at the side of a large tv with huge bass speakers. But as i say, i don't actually know :)

My guess is driver quality & metal housed enclosures. Kef are renowned for making some excellent speakers. I bought some years ago a car speaker package which consisted of 2 front door mounted bass/midrange units & 2 door tweeters. They sounded superb with my Sony front end.
#34
Listen to them and then you'll reliase why they're a bargain!!!

If anyone is interested - Hifix have the KEFT KHT 3005 5.1's for £569.00

Mine arrived and the sub is downward facing in case anyone needds clarification of an earlier comment
#37
If I purchased thse how much roughly (minimum price) would I need to spend on an AMP to power these babies?? Also is that all I need, eg, the speakers, and an amp? Or would I need special cables etc to connect to my Panasonic Plasma (HD ready) and PS3???
#38
sony 1200 amp now available for around 300, you could pick up a discontinued yamaha for less possibly from richer sounds, probably another £40 or so on cable and a subwoofer phono lead and thats it.

only as good as the weakest link in your system as a general rule so don't skimp too much
#39
These speakers, along with the model up - the 3005 - are I think being sold off cheaper becauee KEF are bringing out newer versions, with improved drivers. Despite this they are a good deal at the price, the newer models naturally being more expensive. One of the nice things about the KEFs is they have a wide dispersion - so you don't have to sit bang in the middle of the room without daring to move from the sweet spot to get a good surround effect. But if you want them to do serious duty for music as well, you might want to splash out on the 3005s which are better suited and also have a smarter, more concealable sub.

The problem with buying from Play.com is that there are not authorised dealers and as such you may find KEF do not honour the 5 year warrenty.

I asked Play over the phone but all they can cover is the standard 12 months warrenty. I then tried to speak with KEF but they have not come back to me yet. This model has a tendancy for the Sub to blow after 2-3 years so I would certainly not be willing to spend this amount unless the 5 years warrenty is honoured.

Agree that £360 is a steal but not if the 5 year warrenty is not in place.

Please check before you purchase and you will need a decent Amp to make good use of these.
