Another decidedly average supermarket deal as these are £1.49 at Home Bargains and they have had them in stock every time ive bought cereal from there

They're biscuits in disguise. Packaged as cereal to make parents feel "better" about feeding their kids absolute crap.

breakfast is the time when you can eat crap you have the whole day to burn it off, its the evening you have to watch out for.
and jase do you actually know how many homebargains there are vs Tesco + Sainsburys?

not everyone has a homebargains. if u live in south west, south east, east anglia, mid wales, most of scotland and north west, you will be missing out.

Scrummy stuff, but more like biscuits than cereal. I think they put crack in them because they are really more-ish.

Calories in vs calories out. Consideration also necessary for foods high on the II (Insulin index) - Note that I didn't say GI (Glycemic index) which is a different thing. Foods such as this will spike body insulin levels like there's no tomorrow and guess what insulin is great at? Right, nutrient & fat storage. Type 2 diabetes in children anyone? Cause? Sustained insulin spiking resulting in insulin resistance (more insulin release is needed for the same blood sugar control). Not great!

fair enough I don't know all the food lingo, but everyone's body reacts differently, I don't have a problem ith it. People say all food is **** the only way around it is to live on a farm, and grow your own stuff, and organically at that.

I don't go for the whole organic, grow it yourself vs large scale food production rubbish tbh. For me personally, the main issue is self education relating to macro nutrients (fats, carbs, protein), what those macro's do and their role ie fats are not necessarily the enemy! As a very general rule of thumb, fats which are solid at room temp are best limited (not wholly avoided however). Always read the nutritional label and look at the carbohydrate (of which sugars) part, at the very least. For example, Corn Flakes which most people would think are "ok" are around 75% carbohydrates, but of that 75g per 100g, 25g is sugar. 25g sugar per 100g for a "non sugared" cereal!! Bonkers. The best choices for breakfast would be jumbo oats/porridge (sprinkle some splenda on for taste if required) or shredded wheat. Both are predominantly complex carbohydrates resulting in a much more controlled insulin release. This will also have a positive effect of appetite and will probably also have a positive effect in relation to "hyper" kids.
