Untrue - I just ordered 3 for collection tomorrow at Staples corner (the wife and I bought iPhones yesterday :-)

Voting hot and adding rep, thanks OP!

Closest one is12.9 miles way out of the way :(

As for the item itself, I paid £25 for mine originally. It's a life saver, quite small and it's not enough to bring an iPhone to full charge but it does charge quickly and the phone can be used (or left in your pocket) with the charger attached. Absolutely CRUCIAL to keep an iPhone running when away from a power source (like any day trip, for example!). Heat added for those who can get.

Does this also charge the iphone 3gs?

This gets really bad reviews on Amazon. However there is larger battery pack which recharges the iPhone or iPod fully and some claim two or three charges. A lot more expensive but maybe a better job for some. Voting hot.

http://us.kensington.com/html/15458.html

for £14.99 (item no. 0000676405)

and:

http://us.kensington.com/html/13883.html

for £9.99 (item no. 0000940656)

both identical power packs (as far as I can see), difference being the first one has a dedicated ipod/iphone dock connector cable whereas with the second one you'd need to use your original Apple USB charging cable.

Both can be used with other devices if you have the appropriate USB cable.

Advantage over the OP is more power hence multiple recharges, disadvantage - needs to connect via cable.

If you can't get one from PC World and you're willing to pay an extra £5, Carphone Warehouse currently have these for £15 down from £30, along with some other iPhone accessories at half price.

I was going to get one the other day, along with an Aircurve, but didn't know anything about them. I'm guessing they're pretty good by the sounds of it?!

Plenty available at Kensington High St.!!

Found this looking at options on Amazon since none of these at local PC World.

It seems well reviewed and a good price. I like the idea that it might charge your iPhone or iPod twice, fully.

Thought I'd chime in with a review seeing as how a few posters seem to give reviews about products that weren't this.

I bought one from an Apple Store a while ago (about 20 quid at the time) and it's a great little gadget to keep in a bag or whenever. I use it on my iPhone 3G and other iPods. Standard mini-usb connector for charging and I've found that pretty much any USB car charger works with it. (If you've ever had a USB car charger that didn't work with an iPod or iPhone, stick this in-between and it allows it to charge).

I'd probably say this is of more benefit to the iPhone users. It'll stay attached to the iPhone if you need to use it but does add a little bit of weight (obviously).

I haven't used mine for a few weeks but thought I'd see how much charge is left and it still reports fully charged. You'll get about 90% battery from dead on an iPhone, so it won't fill the battery but it's perfect in a pinch.

I broke my car charger so had to rely on this in the car with the iPhone for sat nav. Got me from Manchester to Brighton and back again with a fully charged pack and iPhone (with bluetooth on)

Well worth a tenner.

Thanks, reserved three!

Thanks for posting this- ordered 2. One for my iPod Touch and another for my Mi-Fi wireless hotspot. Should provide a significant boost to the 4 hour battery life of my Mi-Fi and save me running out of power when I'm out and about
